Re: new prop
The difference is the stainless one will not flatten out under a heavy or high RPM. Deflection I believe is the term used. I was told by two different prop dealers that a stainless does very little for performance on smaller boats 2000lbs or less. It really comes into play around 3500lbs. The cost is high and if you hit anything, damage to your lower unit could occur. I run a Honda and when I bought it the dealer hooked me up with a Michigan. I wanted a stock Honda prop and it made a huge difference the boat torqued less, ran 500 rpm higher wide open which took me up to about 5800 rpms and out of the hole better with the same pitch and diameter. I would buy a aluminum Mercury prop from the dealer.
