Well, Janey & I got Married on Wednesday and left for Mexico for 13 days Saturday morning. This was a Honeymoon/relaxing trip but we did go fishing and I thought I would share a short story and a few pics.
Fished Wednesday with German Laura, second generation captain out of that port. He fished a Panga as he prefers the ease and speed while his oldest son fishes the 38 ft big boat. His 20 yr old son was along preserving the family tradition so it was not easy for me to get to work the gear but at times I insisted to break up the bordom. He had great gear and spoke good english and if anyone goes there I would highly recommend him.
At first light we fished a YFT Jack bite inside the bay on light gear. These fish ran 20 -40+ lbs and at times the action was very good.

Janey hooked one that we did not see but it was probably the biggest and ended up busting her off after about 5 min. Here is pic of a average/small one we decided to keep.

As this was a early bite only the action died after about an hour and a half so out we went. Generally the bite had been fairly slow the last week or so and we did about average. Caught a small shark and for awahile that was it. The seas were about 3 and nothing, 86 degrees under a clear sky. Later in the day we finally hooked up on a sail and when I set the hook I had a big smile on my face as I felt the fish. Some nice head shakes as he quickly took out 100 yds + of line and warmed my thumb. Got one gret jump and a few more head shakes and after 10 or so minutes I knew I was winning. Mostly did this fish as a stand up but finally took the chair as he was coming to the boat. Live bait rod and a Shamino 20, 30 lb main with 50 leader. After some good looks and a few pics I told the Capt. to release it but he said it was hooked deep and bleading so we were keeping it. His boat, his fishery so I listened to him. In the boat, smiles and hand shakes.

Great fun on the Sail but I have to be honest, it would have been a better trip if I could have kept busy running the gear as at times I did get bored. I know I may get flamed for this, but we decided to cancel our Sunday trip to watch some football and spend the morning on the beach. I gave him $50 for a cancelation fee that he did not want to take, but it made me feel better. This trip was about spending some quality time with my new wife and we did have a good day fishing. About half the boats either had a fish or had hooked up and the other half nothing, so we felt lucky. So, thats the fish story.
We toured the city, did some shopping but spent most of the time at the beach or the pool, nice breakfast in the AM, then about 10 or so, walk up the beach for a $20 1 hr massage listining to the surf and feeling the breeze waft through the cottom drapes of the massage tent. Then back to relax and read, at a Pilapa or under the palm trees at the pool, perhaps a few pina coladas and a light lunch. At times it was hard to read as my new wife as well as most of the other people we not wearing much at all.

Then in the heat of the day back to the room

for a siesta, after all it was our honeymoon and then cocktails on the deck before dinner and a walk on the beach. Was going to go diving but at $270 each I decided to pass this trip. We stayed at Krystal in Ixtapa had a top floor end room room with a great view to the east as well as to the west. This pic looking west from out room.

All in all a great trip.
