Default Vegetable Garden - start starters? (port/vanc area)

When do you start your starters for your garden?

When do you put them in the ground?

Appreciate any input.

peppers and eggplant will be started this weekend in the green house. Tomatoes will be about two weeks later. Greens Cabbage etc mid march.
In the gound is a iffy thing. depends on the year. 1 of May for warm weather crops most years, be ready to cover some nights.
Check soil temp.

For most starter plants 8 weeks before you plan to put them into the ground. For tomatoes 8 weeks before Mother's day in the Valley unless you plan to put them under plastic. The same for peppers. Mother's day is a little early for peppers because it is usually still cool and they like heat.

Oh, isn't it awesome you guys? SPRING! It's really coming! I can't wait!

I walked out on the river, today and it really felt warm! It was so awesome!

Yeah, lets' talk gardens and raspberries and stuff!

I pruned my herbs back, today. They were all leggy, but will be good for dinner!

It is hard to think about spring and planting plants over here in Sisters. Yesterday (Friday) the fog came in and the temperature never got above freezing. The ground is frozen to about 8 inches. I about froze yesterday setting forms for Habitat and then I come home and see it was sunny at the coast. I saw daffodils flowering in Reedsport after New Years day and thought, Spring time, and then I came home to below zero weather. Time to move.

Wife started packaging seed to go to Fredmeyers.

Cool weather crops, peas and such you can plant later this month. The biggest limiting factor around here is soil temperature in the spring.

Start your starter plant next month and plant them and direct sow in May. That way they will grow faster than the pests can eat them and you will have tomatoes by the 4th of July.

Google newdimensionseed if you like seeds that germinate near 100% and are consistantly vigorous.

Are ou stocked up on seeds Jenny?
