Default Hwy 26 from Portland to Seaside - traveling conditions?

Did anyone travel this route yesterday (Sunday)? I was going to go to Astoria today but not if the roads pretty bad. Website indicated it is packed snow (trip cams are out) but is that just near the top or a big long stretch? Is it real slippery or graveled well?

Thanks,
Biederboat

Thanks, I saw that yesterday but want to know for how long that is. Just near the top? A long ways through? Far as I know, that could be saying there's three spots of ice at the very top and none anywhere else or it could be bad from MP 45 to 15.

I wish I had seen this last night. We went to Seaside yesterday about mid day. Lost of backed snow and areas with packed snow and ice in the shaded areas.. Some areas had thawed where the sun a hit it.

Comeing home was a whole different story. Frome the turn of at HWY 53 all the way over to the first turn off to Verinoa (spelling) Was a sheet of ice. Average speed was 25 mph. Be carefull if you come home after dark.

I just got back into portland this morning, coming from Gearhart. The road was like others described, packed snow and ice in spots. There was not a lot of traffic and was able to travel around 35-45 mph without too much difficulty. Have 4 wheel drive and didn't slide once. If you are cautious and not in too big of hurry, I don't think that you will have too much trouble making the trip

Vernonia.....Hwy 26 into Portland from Timber rd. is in fair shape. Packed snow/ice with residual gravel, lots of bare pavement...just watch the corners.
