Default So many quotes .. so little time

Many of my favorites are of course not printable. But here's a few that are food for thought.

Your favorites?

Quote:
"Never mistake motion for action"

"You really aught to read more books .. you know those things that resemble blocks of wood and that open on one edge"
Ernest Hemingway

Quote:
"Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered. There was no one there"
Michael Imperioli

Quote:
"Only enemies speak the truth; friends and lovers lie endlessly, caught in the web of duty."
-Stephen King - Roland from "The Gunslinger"

Quote:
Where did they teach you to talk like this? At some Panama City sailor-wanna-<unprintable> bar, or is this getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else . . . we're all stocked up here.
Jack Nicholsen 'As good as it gets'.

Shot fired
Quote:
"You, sir, will either die of the pox or on the gallows."
Lord Sandwich to John Wilkes

Retort
Quote:
"That depends, my lord, upon whether I embrace your mistress or your principles."
Wilkes to Lord Sandwich:

Quote:
"There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him."
- Robert Heinlein

Quote:
"Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."
Quote:

"Every election is a sort of advance auction sale of stolen goods."
H.L.Mencken

Quote:
"No one is useless -- one can always serve as a bad example."

Here are some of my favorites

"There's some light in the world," "We are powerful when we work together as one." Bono from U2

"It's not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what's required."
- Sir Winston Churchill
"We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope."
- Martin Luther King Jr.
"People who take the time to be alone usually have depth, originality, and quiet reserve."

"Try to be the change you wish to see in the world."

Here's a few of my favorites:

Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for.

Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not.

Whatever you fear most has no power - it is your fear that has the power.

Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.

Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.

Married men live longer than single men, but married men are a lot more willing to die.

A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.

When someone allows you to bear his burdens, you have found deep friendship.

Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.

The best index to a person's character is (a) how he treats people who can't do him any good, and (b) how he treats people who can't fight back.

We should not say that one man's hour is worth another man's hour, but rather that one man during an hour is worth just as much as another man during an hour. Time is everything, man is nothing: he is at the most time's carcass.

Worry doesn't help tomorrow's troubles, but it sure can ruin today's happiness.

The pleasure you get from life, is equal to the attitude you put into it.

Live, love, laugh today, for tomorrow may not come?
