Question Pattern Master muzzle blast?

I am interested in the wad stopper type chokes but not a fan of ported barrels and muzzle blast.

I notice the ports in a Pattern Master tube are angled forward. Do these chokes have the same muzzle blast effect as regular ported chokes?

I've got an "old" Patternmaster Tube on my 10 ga.

I can't really say how the "blast" is (usually noticed and complained about by others, close by) as when we're Goose hunting, we're usually at least 5', and often Greater apart.

To me, the shooter, I don't notice any difference.

Wad Wizard is similar, but not ported. Read their FAQ page.

I don't notice any difference with my PM and no one has ever even mentioned noise to me.

Muzzle volumes are increased to the sides by the ports and a louder muzzle blast does occur for fellow hunters to the right and left. Shooter won't notice but should be more curtious of his fellow shooters knowing his muzzle blast noise is now more directed to the sides. Wear ear protection if at all possible. I know my ears are getting worse and worse by the day.

Thanks for the replies. I wasnt so much concerned with myself as with others. I often hunt in close quarters with others.

What NWpest said. If we are in close proximity in Final Approaches or a small box blind I leave the Pattern Master at home as per a request by hunting partners. Other than that I like it.
