Where are you going to fish first this spring?
Just wondering where everyone is going to fish first this year. I have always caught my first fish of the year at Vernonia, but last year I caught my first one at Hagg on openning day. I still will probably hit vernonia in late Feb.

Which Central Coast lakes do you like? I tend to fish the southern lakes but wouldn't mind trying something a little further north.

It depends on when I finally get off my butt and fix my boat. If I get it fixed soon it will be the Willy. Otherwise it will be a private pond.

You'll see me at Dorena as soon as the water comes up a little and I can get my boat in without plowing it through mud.

oswego creek for pre-spawn sm, lm, sunfish, catfish, suckers, and carp. That is a great fishery for about two months in the spring. The largest bass that I have seen caught there was a 4lb largemouth.

Re: Where are you going to fish first this spring?
Silver gives me a headache until May. Right now lake washington is hot for smallies fish 25-50ft with a 3 way rig. Sammamish is hot lake in Febuary. March is back on washington. April i'd fish the opener at Whatcom in bellingham, as its allways a sure bet.

Re: Where are you going to fish first this spring?
haha very true. under i-90 its possible theres a set of stairs under water that run pretty deep. a long cast could produce something there. a carolina rigged brush hawg or grub would be pretty good. got to work it pretty slow though.

I was thinking I might hit the Mid CR for staging walleye first.
As soon as the water hits 50F I'm outta here......we have a ways to go yet.

Lost a 15-16" smallie on the John Day New Years Day. I still have a couple of weeks to get one. My string of consecutive months started last March.

Rufus!!! Mike, you don't have to wait til the water hits 50. I hope to be up there early March, if not earlier.

Re: Where are you going to fish first this spring?
Sounds like we need a walleye fish out in early March. Who's all up for it?
Launch at Rufus after a Saturday Breakfast meet at T-Bones? March 10 or 17? Preferred date?

Re: Where are you going to fish first this spring?
Last year Rufus was the first spot I fished. it was mid Feb. We got one 23 inch walleye.
This year I have already hit the Willamette. Did fairly well on Carppie.
May go up to Rufus again this year, depends on what Touche has to say at the Sportsmans show.
Mojo has a good idea. My club, the OBPC, is doing a walleye "fish in" at Rufus March 24th. Breakfast at Bob's Texas T-Bone goes without saying!

Re: Where are you going to fish first this spring?
Keeper & I plan on spending a few days, the last week in March, in the Rufus area, looking for a 10# er!!! .
Keep us posted, for Bass I'll hit some local ponds early, The coast, then the river....I HATE Hagg Lake (Even though my biggest Smallie, 6# 4oz, came from there )

Re: Where are you going to fish first this spring?
If things stay warm like this my first warm water fish will probably be out of E.E. Wilson. The next on the list is Fern Ridge, and hopefully the Willamette around Corvallis will start warming up soon after that.

Lake has dropped like a rock, it`s going to be low again this year. Looks about like it used to look in the summer right now.

Re: Where are you going to fish first this spring?
When I was living in LA last year, I went to the Colorado River throughout the winter. It was decent in December/January, but really turned on in Feb./March. So, I'll probably head down there. I have alot of bank spots that I found that are productive. And it's a really cheap trip.
