the TUNA should be just past the halibut hole

I haven't seen that date ratified yet, though it would fit the historical pattern...

I don't care about the first tuna. What day can I start putting 40 tuna in the boat again. I caught a friend trying to sneak canned tuna out of my pantry into her purse the other day. Need more tuna.

It's snowing at my house. The El Nino' prediction said a "warmer than average year (meaning 2007). I wonder when it's gonna start?

Some say that handline fishing is not sport fishing. This has been debated at length elsewhere. We are dragging 5 in this photo.
I can tell you that we felt like sportsmen that day. My long time friend and fishing buddy Mike and his Dad and yours truly. Two on the rods and one handline fish. We caught a boat full on Mike Sr's first 'Pilar' TUNA! trip. For years he would caution Mike about fishing with 'that guy, on that boat'. It was a special priviledge to change Mike Sr's mind about 'that boat'. We set a boat record at 39 albacore. The record stood for exactly one day. The next day Ragnar and Jeff and I caught 43.
Please stop me before I kill again.

Also for the record, that was the first tuna trip for me and for the Sculpin. We put 32 onboard all on rod and reel before we ran out of room and ice (pre-tote days).
Note that both John and Mike are hooked up in that picture and they are still trolling at 8 knots. What a day...
