Default Hijack - taking over iPhone when accessing ifish

This site keeps attacking and hijacking my iPhone on ifish only. I can't even use the main forum.

Hey all

Sorry for the trouble with this.

Thanks for reporting those URLs - I've sent them up to tech to block - keep them coming! These rogue ads are targeted based on a variety of things: location, browser, device, cookies, etc. so there are different ones that you will see from someone else. These 'companies' can alter the link slightly to evade the block as well, so the more reports we get, the better tech can get a block in place.

Copied from another thread on this topic, for reference:

http://www.ifish.net/board/newreply....e=1&p=13567361

URL is just another way to say "web address".

Try to copy what is in the "address bar" when you get a pop-up and paste it here.
Once the IT guy knows the offending web address, he can block it.

When those pop ups/redirects happen, it is understandable that you want them gone as quickly as you can. These pop ups/redirects do not infect your device unless you allow them (by downloading whatever they're trying to get you to download). So when these come up, if you are able to take a moment, on your mobile device, tap your finger on the address bar to select the whole URL/address, then put your finger on it and 'long hold' (1-2 seconds) to bring up a menu where you can "Copy" it. When you get that, come back to this page and tap on the reply box here. Then 'long hold' again to bring up the menu and select "Paste" - the full URL/address should now be in your reply.

This would greatly help tech get it blocked. We appreciate all your help with this.
Thanks all

Dayle

I just spoke to Glenda about this yesterday. I don't know if this is posted, but here is the info she requested from anyone getting a pop up ad that is distracting.

Quote:
If members are reporting pop ups I need to know the following information:

What device are they using
A screen shot of the pop up
The URL of the pop up
With all this information I can have it blocked from the site.

these are not just pop-ups, many times these are re-directs. Ifish is giving me OpenDNS warnings all the time due to perceived malware/adware at the site. Gunbroker is similar.

Redirects fall under the same actions posted above

I regularly get this screen that tries to take me away when using my iPhone 6

If I hit cancel it takes me to the iTunes Store and asks me to down load some random game

This time it was for a poker game

Doesn't happen when I use a desktop

Here's the URL

This is getting beyond ridiculous. Something needs to be done to reduce the frequency of this happening. This is the only site this happens to me.

That's odd. I have an iPhone 6 and I've never seen it.

Yes. Bad Jennie. I actually chose to sell ifish to a really nice guy, who had small fishing sites. He had to sell it when he had a stroke.
I just didn't have the means (physically or financially) to run such a large site. I did it literally until I had gray hair.
The present owners are really working on this, though. We all hope that it is fixed soon.
Just keep sending in those URLs.
It's frustrating for sure.

These pop ups are real annoying. It is almost impossible to view ifish anymore. This is the ONLY site I have this problem on. Thanks for reporting. PLEASE FIX!

Default Keep getting redirected from iFish on my iPhone

Totally ridiculous, I am lucky to click on more than one thing before getting redirected to a scam site. This has been happening off and on for a while now. Any tricks to stop this from happening? It only happens when browsing with my iPhone, never does it on my PC. About ready to throw in the towel on iFish....

Screenshot of the scam site.

Same here! This is a new one today. Usually it's a redirect to some app. And only happens on my iPhone

Hey guys,

My apologies for these issue, this is something we are trying to work out. Right now the only solution is to copy and paste the full URL if you see any pop ups on the site in this thread. This is the only way we can have these ads blocked from the site.

Is this issue only happening on iPhone's and tablets? Is this occurring in Android devices as well?

Thank you so much,

~ Glenda

It seems like you're chasing individual sites rather than pre-blocking insecure sites. You'll never catch up.

Can you put in a stop on all redirects?

I can download a free ad/redirect blocker that is 100% effective. Something like that available for the site?

We did move the ad service to a different provider, but without the redirects we got previously we weren't able to tell which service they were coming from. They should be fully stopped now, so if you get another, let us know

Hey guys,

Unfortunately these pop up, redirecting ads are a silent jumper from ad to ad that are undetectable to the legitimate ads and sites that display them. These are passed around from users going on one site with an ad then another, passing the silent jumper as they browse. In cases like this we can block them when they are reported to us, but no amount of scanning on our end will detect those.

Id like to say thank you for getting the ball actually rolling in the right direction on this. I almost stopped coming here all together because of this issue.
