Default Acetone on aluminum boat

In the Feb 2004 Salmon Trout Steelheader issue. There was a article in the reader tips on polishing a aluminum boat. In the last line the writer says that he wipes down the boat with Acetone. Does anyone know the reason why ?.

Default Re: Acetone on aluminum boat

When you polish your boat, polishes have oils in them and there may be residual finger prints from the polishing process. Acetone is one solvent which can help remove any of those residual oils that could compromise any sealer, wax or finish you might put on the boat.
