Fished out of Cathlamet till we got blown off...Marked a few fish but no Biters...Where a million seals down there...I think the smelt must be there...

That's where we marked the fish(wing jetties) didn't fish the north end...should have...We fished along the east side too. Still a little early...There were 10 - 15 boats out no fish...Had a little trouble reading the water as it's been a while. The reduced water level may have played a part...

P.S. Waiting for some XL shirts, will get it off when they arrive..

After a little research here is a link to the latest release I can find from WDFW. http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/do/feb01/feb1301a.htm I would not be fishing for springers in the main stem until after these meetings!!!

Until the "new " regulations are set, I'll be fishing the Columbia until March 31 for Springers. As stated in the Washington State Regs., the Columbia (Rocky Point/Tongue Point to I-5 Bridge) Salmon Aug. 1 - Mar. 31
Salmon- no more than 2 adults.

I'll be fishing it the end of the week.

Where abouts is Cathlamet? The reason I ask is I caught two steelies on the E. Fk. Lewis last week and both were chewed up pretty bad from seals. I'm surpised one of them was able to swim at all. Barnyard you metioned a lot of seals there.

Cathlamet is about 20 miles west of longview by road..Don't think it's quite that far by river....

Barney, did you try along the north side of the island? And around the wing jetties? I'm also curious what the effect of the reduced water flow is having. Thanks. - RT

Barnyard,

I have not fished yet this year for springers, but in the past we have done fairly well in the Clifton Channel ( South side of Tenasillahe Island) and also on the south side of Pudget Island, I prefer the southeast end.
