Default Help on Pre-Purchase of Subaru Outbacks

Looking to buy an Outback (year 95-99). Looking for any help with common problems with this range of years. Looking for a 4cyl with manual transmision. Also, does Subaru have any trany. problems with their automatics?

Since I'm trying to stay in 6,000-7,000 dollar range I would imagine it will have over 100,000 miles.

Thanks for any help

Default Re: Help on Pre-Purchase of Subaru Outbacks

If you find one you like and you want some one to inspect it for you or if you buy one and you need it worked on or serviced I have the number for the guy who was the head Mechanic for the Subaru dealer in downtown Portland for 25+ years. He retired after he got cancer but he beat the cancer so he decided to open up his own shop out of his house. He has all the computer diagnostic eqpt and everything else needed to work on Subarus and he is honest, fair and way cheaper than getting it done anywhere else. He may even know where to find what you are looking for as he also sometimes sells used Subarus he has refurbished. He only deals with Subarus and I can honestly say in the nine years I owned Subarus I wouldn't take mine to anyone else. He lives between Gresham and Sandy off of 26. PM me if you want his contact info as I am not sure if we are allowed to post stuff like that on the public forums.
