Pam's First Steelhead !!!!!!
R.T. and Justin are going to love this one, Today my girlfriend Pam and I Fished the satsop from Cook creek to the highway, We got the boat in bright and early, 11:00 am, oh well it was a beautiful day and we were more into just being together, but we started fishing, and fishing hard, creaming the water because it is a long float. This is only Pam's second time steelhead fishing, the first time out I was able to teach her how to cast a baitcaster, very quickly,
( she is very sharp and a quick Learner) so now that she can cast pretty7 good, I showed her how to bait up and all that stuff and how I LIKE TO BOON Dog from a drift boat, so I would just put the boat in position and would tell her where to cast, and Damm watching her put it right up against logs and in the slots was just so awesome to watch, I was just so damm happy I did not even fish very much, it was just so cool to see her catch on so quickly and really enjoy herself.
Then it happend about half way through the float, the water is low and clear so we were concentrating on the fast water and the slots, when I told her to cast against this clay bank were the water was really kickin and broken up. I looked downstream for a second, then looked back to my left and I heard her yell I got one, at about that time I looked in the water and saw the 12 lb torpedo screaming down river, man it was cool, we were in fast water so I was trying to move over when she turned around and said it is really going I think I need you to help me, and said no way baby, this is your fish , Deal with it!!! I finally stood up and tightend her drag a little and she was able to start to gain on the fish. After a few minutes I finally jumped out of the boat with the net and got her, her prize. A beautiful chrome brite Native Hen, oh well we looked at it Since I had dropped the camera in the water, like a dumbshit!! so then with a little kiss we turned her loose.
Pam was so excited, It was the best thing I had seen in a long time, it made me feel so good it is beyond words. Then later on she hooked two more, but lost them both, and I told her that is why they call it fishing.
Anyways what a great day !!!!
Man I really like this woman!!!!

Way to go Pam! It's great isn't it?! Beautiful scenery, flowing along on the river, having a good time with people you enjoy, and the steelhead is the icing on the cake. Hey Joe, you had to release the fish but I think the one in the boat is a keeper! See you guys. - Steve

Re: Pam's First Steelhead !!!!!!
Fly, tell Pam congratulations from me. Not many women can cast a baitcaster and hook fish too. Having the pleasure of meeting Pam, I can say that she is A-OK and now that she can catch fish.....WOW!!! Let's see, beautiful river, beautiful fish, beautiful lady.....Joe, are you sure you just weren't dreaming or did this really happen? Just kidding. Take care, man, and keep in touch. Tight lines and keep your tip up.

Re: Pam's First Steelhead !!!!!!
Too CooL!
Nothing better than seeing someone catch there first one. Especially if its a girlfriend or wife. No you have a permanant fishing partner.
I Got my wife into her first one last summer, It was too cool. Now she is constantly bugging me to take her.
