Default 20# er landed today!!!!

I took dad today and by golly we found a rare trophy!!! I hooked it and handed the rod to dad and he fought and landed it.We took a picture and let him go. He was hooked on a purple metallic corkie and shrimp. We each missed one other fish. The one I missed was throbbing the rod like a backbouncing takedown, I mean a suicide bite!!How I missed him I will never know. I guess that fish has learned the new bite and not get hooked technique!!!!!
Oh Forgot to mention we were on the lower Wilson today and it was a short trip it was very windy!!!!!Good luck to all-John

I think that bite is the bite hard clamp down on the hook then turn the head and smile back at the fisherman as they let go. Had more than a few like that. Awesome to get your dad into a wild one!

Hey Chuck- I had told myself earlier in the year that I was going to hang it up until summer. My poor Dad hadn't touched a steelhead since summertime and anyway it has been a slow.....slow year.Fish as awesome as that are the ones who lure me back to the same old places every year. I have been fortunate to have landed 3 "trophy" class steelhead. 2 (24#,26#) on the Wilson in March on brass/maroon 2/5 oz. cleos. 1 on the Sandy that I will say was around 20# but I didn't have a tape so it was only an est. This makes the 4th. Fish the coastal rivers in March & April and you have a good chance getting one. E-mail me and if you want I can show you some of the places I go and some of the things I do. There are a couple places that are zippered out of respect for friends but there are lots of places that aren't . Talk to you soon_john

John that is awesome. I want to see the picture when you get it developed. I've had several of the get hooked, clamp down, spit hook fish this year. They must be getting schooled on us.

Hey John, moments like that don't come along often in life. To get to share that with your Dad is just great to hear about. Thanks for sharing that with us! - Steve
