Default ODC 816 Pontoon

I've spent the last 14 summers in the same float tube, and am looking at this p-boat in cabelas as a possible replacement for lake fishing in the summer. It is made by "Creek Company" and advertised on Don Hills web site for $499,Cabela's wants $325. Anyone have any experience with this model or company?? The tubes are 8', could it be used in a river? Thanks for your input

What Os said. If you even think about running a river, get a better boat. Os and I can lead you in the right direction.....

My main goal with this post was to solicit info about quality of this boat for lake fishing. the river thing was an after thought. I may be in touch later in the year looking for info on larger cats. do you have any good arguments I can use on the wife as to why I would need a cat as well as my drift boat =)

You can lauch anywhere, you want with in reason. If I can get my truck close I'm in.There nothing like floating along with the water right there...not over the side of a drifter...right there, kinda like being one with the river.
It's so hard to explain you gotta be there.

I've taken my 8' pontoon down the sandy this winter and haven't had a problem. I walked pipeline, but other than than that all the water seemed to be manageable. I bought mine this year and it was in that price range, probably about the same quality.

Hey Os, you forgot one of the major pluses to having a cataraft. If you want to sell your wife on it (Os is right, there's just something about it you can't explain) that during the low flows in the summer months you can run almost the entire drift without having to push/drag your boat. I'd say, if you are going to buy a boat, and are contemplating a bigger cat, then save your money and just buy a bigger one. Very rarely will you have too much boat for rivers. I've seen the ODC's, they're ok, but I'd highly suggest getting a good cat. It's easier to buy one good cat, then buy a cheaper one and have to upgrade later.

Just keep in touch with Os or I and we can steer you in the right direction...
