Re: West Side SI tomorrow...
OOOOOOOOO...sounds bad CrF Yikes...
I went and drew my chip for the morning. With a bazillion people + their brothers, sons, uncles, aunts, etc...it was pretty crazy out there. I drew 175 and handed it right back to Rob and came home to go back to sleep!
I think the duck Gods hate me or something. From what I can remember, these are the chips i've drawn this year on the West Side so far. How good are these... 175, 150, 151, 101, 100, 33, 70, 48, 195...TWICE, 122, and 173! I think they just feel threatened by me  Yeah...that's what it is...they're threatened

Re: West Side SI tomorrow...
I've only had the guts to draw on the west side by myself once. Drew #10 (which got me the 4th pick) and was back in Corvallis w/ my limit by 10 in the morning a couple of years back.
Haven't had the guts to do it again cause I know I would probably draw about 190

Re: West Side SI tomorrow...
Jokester,
I was going to PM you for results...
But, I guess I can sort of forget about that now!
Hmm...so alright who here DID make it "in" this morning and how'd things go for you and for others from what you could see?
A buddy and I WERE going to make it out, but we're both suffering from killer chest colds...
Out on the Eastside on Thursday it probably sounded like a T.B. Ward to others anywhere near us!
Geez, not good! Gotta stay home and keep warm, drink lots of liquids and all that!

Re: West Side SI tomorrow...
I drew chip #48 and got on. For some reason Seal #1 was still available so I grabbed it.
Seal Lake was mostly frozen over, but there was a small area of open water in front of the blind. Managed to bag two gadwall and one mallard, and missed a couple other opportunities.
Thick ground fog all morning. Seal Lake didn't shoot much, but there was sporatic shooting over on Mud Lake.
Very slow day out there, and cold. I pulled out at 11:00.

I HATE Sauvie's!!! Seriously, can't stand the crowds, can't stand that it's a 100% crap shoot whether you're going to draw, can't stand that there's guys running from their trucks to beat you to a spot, can't stand the skybusters..........BUT, about 95% of the days I've hunted in the last 15 years have been out there because of that comment right there. Man, can it be good.

You guys should try hunting some of the Cali WMAs and NWRs...
You'd be AMAZED at how good we have it!
Once upon a time in my life, I'd drive 86 miles, one-way, and camp out overnite for the weekend to "maybe" get shots at a few G.W. Teal and a few Widgeon for 2 hr.s each morning.
For maybe 2 weekends out of the year, IF I could hit it right, I'd drive 120 miles, one-way, to a further WMA where, if things worked out just right, I could shoot limits of Bull Sprig (the limit on them then was 7/day ), and that would be my "Big Hunt" for the season!
Any place that offered the opportunity to shoot Greenheads was considered a Treasure and getting to the area and proper Blind happened maybe ONCE EVERY THREE SEASONS or so, under their draw system.
You DON'T know how good we have it at S.I. WMA until you've had to put up with that!
