Default Best sturgeon fishing line?

My little lady bought me a Penn 320GT2 for christmas, just wondering what's the best line/lbs to use for oversized sturgeon?

80# Tuf XP would be a good choice. Make sure you put a couple of wraps of mono backing on first though to keep the braid from slipping.

I would go with 80# Tuf Line. I have hooked and landed multiple oversize with that same reel and line, and never had a problem with it breaking.

I've run 80# tuff line plus for years and just switched over to 80# stealth for a slightly smaller diameter to strength ratio. This really helps keep your gear on the bottom in heavy current.

I use 8olb tuff-line or tuff-line xp for all Sturgeon fishing. Your 320 will hold 300 yards perfectly.

Go with the Tuff line.

Be sure you add some backing so you don't go broke trying to fill the whole spool. The stuff anit cheap. But it will last a long time. I turn the line on my reels over every 2 years. The way I do that is strip the oldest line I have on a reel and toss it. Then I take the end of the line from one reel and spool it on the other. Then I go buy new line for the other reel. That way I get four years of use.

My vote is for Tuff line 80#. I have the same reel/line combo on two different poles and have had great results with multiple oversized fish up to 11ft long and 300+ lbs. without a single failure

This is a loaded question! If fishing from a boat use 80lb braid Tuff or Power pro both seem to work about the same. If you are a Bankie, then I would stick with 30-40 monofilament.

80# Tuffline or spiderwire fusion, you can use dacron braid for filler backing if you want to save a few $. Put off a few yards every once in a while to discard frayed bits. Usually only the first couple yards get frayed. Retie the end frequently too. Wrap it on tight or it won't pay out right.

I switched all my spectra lines to Stren Super Braid. I use 80# for Sturgeon, Tuna and Halibut. It has better on reel performance than Tuff line. MTC.

Not sure if Tuff line has been mentioned yet but I run 80# on my Penn 320s on my ugly stick meat sticks.

50# tuff on my IM7 15-50 rods.

I really like Stren Super Braid and Power Pro. I use either one on a number of salmon rigs. I just got a new sturgeon rig and I wound it up with 80# Power Pro and two wraps of dacron @ the spool.

I switched away from Tuf Line after breaking off on two very large fall kings. Neither one broke off at the knot, but well above it. Gotta' go with what you have confidence in and Super Braid and Power Pro haven't let me down yet. I also like the fact they're both very round and spool/pay out smoother, IMHO.

I don't know what everyone else uses, but I would have to say 80# Tuff.
