Hooray Jen! Nice fish! Bout time for me to get one on a jig. Pink and white is supposed to be the hot color. Sounds like you and Bill had a great day on the river.

Great job now go do it again

Hey Dusty, if that one bothered your wife, don't let her see some of Jen's more sexy fishing pics! ..... I am for the best stealth available for gin clear water conditions. I hadn't heard about waders that are aqua colored with water ripples patterned in. That's just rad, bad, phat, and all that! E-mail me more about where to get those Jerry. I think I will start a stealth thread about clothes, boats, actions, etc., since we have such a low water season going. - RT

Nice Fish Jen !!!
Hey, I just went to the Silent Approach web sight. Which type of jig are you using? I'm not a jig user (yet) and didn't realize there were so many different types. Also, what type of float are you using?

Snazzy neos Jen. I have never been a fan of the ugly brown ones. Would like a pair of dark Blue ones. I did notice the nice grip and grin technique over the water. Keep on smiling.

Hey Marty, there are a few manufacturers that have different colored waders. I do believe simms has a dark blue. Bare also has a set or two. I do believe there's even a set of "water camo" ones too. Not the upland camo, but an actual bluish water ripple set. Only problem is most of these waders bring on a premium price. I've only seen most of these waders in the high end fly fishing magazines.

That thumb was supposed to be up, tried to edit it, but wouldn't let me edit the thumb....

Hey Jen: Congrads - on your fish.

I also caught my first steelhead on a bobber and jig last Wednesday on Eagle Creek. Use a Thrill bobber and a pink and white jig from Rainbow Jigs. Had a small shrimp tail as an added attraction.

Bobber and jig work great when you cannot drift fish. Water was low, clear and snaggy.
I am going to carry two rods now, one for drift fishing and one for B&J.

Like you, I learned most of the methods from IFISH. Thanks again to all you Bobber and Jig Chromers for your advise.

Tight Lines, Drifter.

Dawg, if you are talking about our website I can assure you all those fish were caught on jigs, though most of the jigs were tipped with bait. If they weren't I was told otherwise before having the pictures posted on the site though I have no reason to doudt that they were. If you'd like to meet some time and discuss it feel free to e-mail me.

Hey RT, once I find it I'll send the addy your way. It's cool, they make hats, shirts, and waders in an "aqua" pattern. They have different colors too depending on where you're fishing (they have green for rivers and a bluish for salt flats and such). They have pictures actually taken underwater of someone and looks pretty good.....Jerry

I never mentioned anyones name????

do you think this is the first time someone has used another tactic to catch fish then say Oh I used a bla bla bla,

All I said was what I heard at a local sporting goods store.
when someone comes in and brags about catching these nice fish on an aoerfly and shrimp then I see them posted as caught on something else I call B.S.

Geez Jen lighten up.

The best defense for so called "slanderous comments" is the TRUTH!!!!!

Hey O's and all y'all, I fought my first steelie yesterday on a silent approach jig. Of course, the stars were aligned against me because you weren't kiddin' O's about those spring bobbers. Snap, right at the bobber. I didn't even want to use the damned thing, but my brother had my tackle bag with my floats in his car. It was at that place you told me to go to, but downriver at a really bad snaggy place. Man in this low, clear water, they really hug any types of cover. Really have to go out there with your "A" game. Don't worry, the B team sits down this coming weekend, and I'm calling the A Team. I pity da foo......(fish)

Osprey, just got a fresh batch of floats in. As for dawg breath, I have caught some fish recently on an aerofly and shrimp including an 18 pound native buck with sea lice this morning, but none of those pictures are on the website! Last time I checked it wasn't a crime to fish with anything but a jig!

Hey I left a beautiful Aerofly in a tree on the Nestucca a few weeks ago. I used one on the Alsea last week and it kind of fell apart. It was one of the store bought variety.

An experiment. ...

Since this fishing oriented thread suddenly changed to a football oriented thread, I wanted to try something. I copied and pasted all the football posts from here over to a new thread topic "Transfering Fishing Thread to a Football Thread (experiment)". It's a fun football doozy as usual. Post your football fantasies and whimpers (Dawg fans) and solid predictions (Beaver/Duck fans) over to the new 'spring' football thread. Thanks much guys. ....

As for that 'areofly', while it looks good and productive, I think the new SA "Lil Jennie" corkyjig will look and work similarly but better. It looks just like the traditional leadhead steelhead jigs, only instead of a 1/4 oz. lead head these have an actual corky head. From there back they are tied the same as a jig. The corkyjig will be driftfished along the bottom much the same way as you would a standard corky and yarn rig, with a leader and lead (pencil or slinky). This is a good idea that should work really well; as early tests by Os and friends have demonstrated. ... Fish on! - RT

Nice fish Jen! I remember my first jig fish. It was on the Siletz, Up in gorge. I wasnt doing anything with regular drift gear. My buddy told me to try a jig. I tied on a pink and white one. I couldnt cast the float and jig very far with my casting rod, So I waded out 1/4 of the way across the river to get closer to decent looking slot on the other side. I was standing about waist deep. I finally got a good cast in the slot. The float wnt about 2' before it was ripped under the water. I set the hook and all of a sudden there was around 10lbs of ****** off steelhead cartwheeling across the river. That fish made about 3 jumps towards me. On the 4th jump it actually hit me in the chest. I was soaked and laughing like an idiot. I will never forget that fish.
Any of you guys ever try pulling an areofly behind a diver? It works. Apply a liberal amount of sandshrimp oil on one and run it just like a shrimp. Works in a pinch when fresh shrimp are unavailable.
