Default springers

I am planning on going after springers on monday. Where is the best place to go (the slough)(columbia-portland area)? Have any ideas on good herring setups? In the past i have used a spin n glo above my herring which i have had success with. Or is just a herring alone a better idea for the clear water? thanks for any info....

I fished this morning between meldrums bar and the falls from daylight to 11:00. I never saw a fish on. Probably about 100 boats in this section of water this morning. I did see one guy cleaning one at the Clackamette boat ramp. Said he got it on a herring at daylight.

It was Cooooooollllllllddddddddd this morning.

I fished OC between the bridges and saw one, caught on Rainbow spinner, by a guy anchored in the trolling water. Nice fish, but overall very stingy. I was really surprised considering how many Guides were on the water. Oh well, must have been that cold east wind.
