Question Schooner Creek Campground?

Can anyone here give me some information about Schooner Creek Campground? Some maps have it posted and I know where to find it if it really exists . . . some maps don't show it and the management folks @ Siuslaw NF know nothing about it. It is on Schooner Creek Road, East of Taft.
  • Does it really exist?
  • Is it open year-round?
  • Improved/unimproved?
  • Popular this time of year?
  • Available facilities?
I've been all over the internet and there are several references to Schooner Creek Campground but nothing with any specifics such as my list above.

Thanks, if you can help!

Don

I have lived at the coast all my life and never heard of it. All of the campgrounds on the beach are empty this time of the year.

Sea Jypzee, yes, thanks. You can find it on some maps but, like Coastalfisherman says, most folks (even in the area) don't seem to have heard of it. I came up with several (mostly useless) references to this park by google-ing it. If I don't get any information here, I will be there this weekend and when I return, the end of next week, I'll find this thread and close it with some information and some photos - - if, it's really there. Maybe this is an undeveloped campground. There is a State park I found on a map that is only a few miles from my home. Looking at the roads that lead to it I know that a couple are always gated. I looked it up online and it is a State park that is awaiting funding for completion. The State owns the land but most can't use it. It may be the same thing here. Either the State or the County bought the property and set it aside for funding to develop. It would seem that someone here would have been to it if it is a functional campground.

Well, here's the report . . . my brother and his wife are over on the coast this weekend and he drove by there this morning. "Schooner Creek Campground is a bust!" He did find it - - such as it is . . . it's a walk-in (he didn't say how far off the road - - but, not conducive to camper/trailer camp), looks like there might be one campsite, he thinks it's actually on private land and not NF land as the map seemed to show, and it's pretty-much just a swamp. I'll just close this thread out in case someone wants the information from the archives later. Having re-clecked the maps that show it, I do think my brother is correct and that this is on private land and not Siuslaw National Forest. Nevertheless, here it is:

That'sallthereis,thereain'tnomore . . .
