Default Going Monday, Sandy or Wilson? Help

Going fishing monday and know the wilson much better then the sandy. Any suggestions on where to go (RT) to maybe find a good hook up. Would like to try the sandy but have no idea if anything is around. Suggestions? I pretty much only bank fish but still love wetting a line. Any help would be great. Only have a few more weeks that I am able to chase steelies this year, so HELP. ha ha ha

Penn,

If you know the wilson better than stick to waht you know. Both the sandy and the wilson are very low. If you want to fish the sandy then your best bet would be to go up above to oxbow or higher. If you try to stay downriver you will be pounded by wind. That is horrible to deal with when you are trying to drift fish or bobber fish. If it was me going to fish the sandy or the wilson, i would pick the sandy. This is because I know it better than I know the wilson. Also, the sandy does have a lot of fish in it...especially after the high water last week! If i were to choose one tactic and one spot on the sandy, I would fish a bobber and jig (1/8 oz pink and white beau mac) at oxbow park. There is a lot of good water within the park and usually kicks out fish. If you are so inclined to go to the sandy then I would either call Jack's Snack and Tackle (at glenn otto park 503-66JACKS) and ask Jack what he suggests or I would go and hit the upper river hard. Jack can answer any questions you might have on fishing the sandy because he has been living on and guiding on this river for over twenty years!!! Anyway, good luck to you PENN.

Because 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water!

Penn, looking at the river levels, the Wilson looks promising as we speak. But as a Sandy maggot, Coot22's tip is pulling at me. I may find myself going up there (Oxbow) but with fly-gear. It is a beautiful spot. If I go, I will post what I hear.

There are decent numbers of steelhead in both rivers Penn. Same for a lot of rivers, but most are native fish to be released. I couldn't add any more to what they told you. Good luck. - RT
