PV is still kicking out plenty of YFT
9 tuna on the Torture Chamber today, mini cows unfortunatly... 125-200lbs. Plus a nice 40+lb Dodo. This is the second day in a week with almost 10 cows to the torture chamber in a day...Ah sorry... BABY Cow
Lora on the Primetime(30" Grady) scored big today, 280' COW.. Finally those pinche White glasses, paid their dues...
I know Hoghunter just left for his LR trip, hes in for a good time, same with TowerTodd, he is gonna be fishing aboard the Chelita down in PV in a few days.
Trying to get things together where Ill be back in Cowville in a month or two.
The Torture Chamber had plans to sail south to Huatulco for the beginning of the year, as thats the place to be. Double digit Marlin days are the norm. The Torture Chamber and the newly acquired boat "Conquistador" (almost new 40' Cabo Express) are staying put in Punta Mita for awhile since the fishings so great!
Aint the balmy, sunny, and lovely weather up here in the NW soo great?

Re: PV is still kicking out plenty of YFT
The Torture chamber is still having major motor issues..Gonna get rid of the twin 435hp Cat 3208's and replace them with brand new Cat C9's. So the crew borrowed Juan Moll's ride the Top Gun for a day last week..
Here is a not so epic day.. Not even close to double digits, but I wouldnt be complaining one bit!

Man I'm telling you ... This is torture!
I have a trip booked out of Venice, LA on 2/15 and 2/16 and I can't wait.
It's raining in Astoria, the boat is in the shop, about the only thing I'm doing is rebuilding reels.
How does a guy get on your team?

Re: PV is still kicking out plenty of YFT
Les,
The Big one is definitely over 250. Nice fish for a dude that weighs less than 150lbs!! Heard there were ALOT of verbal abuse commenced to keep the dude on the fish...
Juan is on the right, Marro is on the left, He is Lora's right man on the Primetime. And Temple took the photo.
Check out how insane the new Conquistador is..
Here is the Conquistador fueling up in Cabo and getting ready to set sail over and down to PV.

This baby has 3 GPS's, separate companies.. backup backup...
This is gonna be one expensive boat to charter.. Daily rates start at a price that allows you to buy two brand new yamaha 15hp kickers..

I'd love to catch one of those! Going to have to book a trip again some day when I have time.

Re: PV is still kicking out plenty of YFT
Live Update>
Been in PV now since Mon PM. Went to El Banco yesterday, Friday, not sure what the date is. I love it when that happens. Fishing was poor yesterday, no one catching tuna. Bait was very hard to catch. We caught two dorados 30 and 25. Dodos were full of tiny tiny shrimp and itty bitty sardines, like less than half inch in size. Little windy but not too bad. Saw the Conquistador at the fuel dock and forgot to take a pic. Nice ride for sure.
Today, Saturday, still don't know the date. Went to El Baco again today. We banged 4 nice baits right off. Then we went fishing. One fat sailfish, he's been pigging out on all of the bait that is here. Two nice bull Dodo's about 35 pounds and a calf tuna about 140 / 150 pounds. Biggest tuna I jnow of today. I heard of one other about 60. I've had rainbow trout bite harder than this tuna. The bite was so soft! Didn't even run out line for a few seconds. Very windy and rough today. Heard JT on the radio and they weren't having much luck, like most boats. We just got super lucky. Incredible whale show on the ride in. They wer having a jumping contest and it went on and on. I counted at least 50 jumps!
Sunday's plan is to take the kids out to the islands and catch whatever will bite!
Full report with pics on Tuesday, whatever day that is!

Re: PV is still kicking out plenty of YFT
Here is a photo that Chelita uploaded to Bloody decks.
TT, pretty strange that you barely felt the bite, as all of our tuna bombed on our baits and immediatly dove. Way more ferocious than a billfish bite.

Re: PV is still kicking out plenty of YFT
Beautiful fish there Todd,,,,,nice pic. Even though the bite was light (very interesting) I'm sure it pulled a tad bit harder than a rainbow....
Hopefully that other guy from your neck of the woods will be successful as well............

Re: PV is still kicking out plenty of YFT
Dean be sure to post a report on your trip as we are heading to Venice for a month of fishing in March. Keta and I will tow the boat and CDJ Puffins crew and South Paw will be flying in to join the fun. Hope to get into some Tuna and Wahoo. Thanks.
