It's freaking dead. Just spoke with several guides down there. No fish (steelies) being caught at all to even brag about. As far as smelt go: still none in numbers.

I hope this helps those out who's figuring gas $ into their budget. Plus tackle and time.

What ARE you doing fishing the Cowlitz this time of year? You should be out probing the Nooch and Satsop and other GH tribs instead of the Cow. Maybe it's the redneck in you drawing to the Cowlitz. Anyway, it might not be a bad idea to give up on the Cowlitz until the summer runs start showing up.

Hey Dan,

Interesting reply. How soon we forget. Remember last weekend...The "Floatilla". Did I miss something or was there a significant change in conditions that warrant a trip to the Satsop? I doubt it. No new fish,low and clear with the tribal nets in five days a week doesn't seem to add up to a promising float. Did I miss something?

Last I heard the Quinalts weren't netting,
and what about the Floatilla?
Last I checked we had 3 fish on in our boat and landed 2 of those,I can't speak for the rest of the Floatilla but I've had a lot worse days than that...maybe I missed something.
Besides after Dan and I hit the same 2 rivers yesterday,I'm going back...soon....Os
