Default Gillnetted Smelt!

Well the Gillnetters slayed the smelt again on the lower Columbia. Some netters had two ton in their net in 15 min. sets. I called Fergus - MC Barendse in Astoria for kicks to see what the price was, and they told me $3.00 per pound. Last week it was $6.00 per pound, so the supply and demand must have been reached. What will next weeks price be? Maybe the gillnetters won't even go, because of the lower price.........Bobber Down

Does anybody have any Cowlitz news for tomorrow? I got a real itch to go netting.

Bait O'Eggs,

Gillnetters were getting them in the lower Columbia, but the Cowlitz is probably still a week or so away. Cruised the Columbia from Longview to Cathlamet today. Lots of seals in the river with most of the activity closer to Cathlamet. If you have the urge to go dipping, fly at it. But, your probably better off saving your time and gas money for a later date.
