hookem,
What kind of boat were you in? I have been fishing the channel for the past two days with no luck but glad to hear some fish are being caught.

We went Wednesday morn in my 16’ smokercraft osprey.
Its black with red and white trim. Caught the fish just up from
the gilbert river boat ramp. Saw a couple other guys with fish also.

Hello Hook'em, Thanks for the good news. Would you mind sharing your leader/lead-line setup?

Some folks have short 18" leaders and bounce bottom. Others a couple feet and bounce bottom. Others troll herring without their lead touching bottom (fishing shallower in the water column). For that St.Helens - Gilbert ramp area what do you favor?

Thanks a bunch

Hook'em, I forgot one last thing, did the bite (or at least the one that bit you) seem to be related to the tide cycle?

Thanks again.

We were using herring, 30# leader
about 30" long and 1 to 2 oz of lead.
The depth was 15 to 20 feet.
We tried to stay off the bottom and had to
go down in weight. My fish finder almost
never spotted any fish!
Our hookup came at the tide change to out
going.
