I obviously have a lot of time on my hands this weekend, because I have been spending a lot of time in front of this computer, buuuut I saw a project the other day that might interest some salty dog.
In Albany at the welding school along I-5 is a nice looking 28' aluminum hull. The hull has been built, and it was originally set-up for twin in-board jets, but that could be welded over and an offshore bracket could set it bu nicelyy for a pair of twins.
Tacklebuster??? here's your CC!!
The story the guy told me is he is selling it for the widow of a boat builder. The boat builder was making these boats under contract with Florida as drug intercepters, and died at age 52 before this one was completed.

They are selling it for the highest bid by Dec 31st. The highest bid so far was $8000.00. It needs a floor and storage put in it, but the hull is done, the gunnel is welded around it. I saw it while I was on my way taking my boat for new motors and just had to look.
salvage value on aluminum was $1.00 per lb not to long ago, and clean new aluminum to finish it is aout $2.00 per pound. This boat would be an awesome project. You could even shorten it a little if you wanted at this point.
