Default Pinteals on the menu

Here's the briefing on a not-much-to-tell kinda day. Hooked up with Cody for what was supposed to be a duck smackin morning, excuse me...a mallard smackin morning. Ended up being a pintail and goose show...and of course the skybusters made an overwelcome appearance. Cody decided he'd rather scout the X for some snows, leaving me with one pintail in the bag and the rest of the day. Not 45 minutes after he left, the teal showed up in numbers. Two doubles and two singles later, here's what I'm wrapping in bacon, jalepeno and blue cheese tonight...

And one for the memories album...

We could ALL use less sky busters but it looks as if you ended up with a fun shoot anyway. Good job ing em. Teal save the day again.

Looks like my shoot from yesterday. 1 pintail, 1 widgeon and 5 teal. Only saw 1 greenhead come through the decoys but missed the shot. Got too exited when I saw the green.

That last picture gets to me. I think that's one of the top five pics I've seen this year (Duckboy makes it hard to punch into the top 10... )

Way to stick to it. Sometimes you just have to grind it out, sometimes you just have to wait it out. Not every day needs to be green.

My own perfect day would be a drake pintail and 6 drake widgeon but a bull sprig and 6 teal would be about as good. I'm not sure I could smoke 6 of the fast flyin' little devils, though. I'll shoot mallards but I'd rather shoot just about anything else.

Good shooting. Teal are tough targets.

I picked up a nice bull sprig this afternoon and a baldpate- and they're already in some House Autry chicken breader and destined to grace a plate of biscuits and gravy.

The only thing better than chicken fried chicken is chicken fried ducks.

Merry Christmas, AW

Hey,

Those are some really nice photos.

Looks like the teal will rue the day you got here.

Bacon and blue cheese pinner! When is dinner?
