A moment of silence...
I'd like to propose a thread of silence, sort of like the moment of silence that is taken prior to various events. Please, attach images or say a few words of loved ones that you'd like to spend this Christmas with but for whatever reason cannot.
There are many who can't be with us this Christmas. Some have passed, some are far away, some are in harms way, some are safe and sound but just can't make it here.

Re: A thread of silence...
Nice thread Doug! Thank you!
I'd like to wish a Merry Christmas to the poor homeless man I see every day as I pass him on powell blvd. He's out every day, in any kind of weather. His shoes and pants are so worn they are falling apart. Everything he owns is in his shopping cart, but it's contents are in horrible shape. I drove by him tonight after leaving a xmas party. A warm dry and comfortable home, with good food and wine. Passing him, it really put things in perspective. We really have it good.So many don't. My wife and I decided to go buy him some warm waterproof boots and some warm pants and a blanket tomorrow.
Also to All my grandparents. I miss you all terribly and wish you could spend christmas day with your grandson and great grandson, just one more time.
much love!
Also to all the soldiers and those in the armed forces who cannot be with their loved ones during the holidays. Thank you for the sacrifices.

Re: A thread of silence...
My prayers go out to:
William Porter Coleman...grandfather, passed away last week.
Robert Frederick Williams....father, passed away 10 years ago.
Stephen Frederick Huggins....step father, passed away 5 years ago.
Benjamin Frederick Fischler.... father in law, passed away when my wife was ~2 years old (never met him, wish I had).
Merry Christmas all. Your brother in Christ, Tex.

Re: A moment of silence...
My childhood friend Jacob who drowned during our freshman year of college. He was a real rockhound, and he died doing what he loved.
Craig, who made a difference in my life during my first summer working as a counselor in NY. He was wise beyond his years, and the conversations I had with that 16 year old still carry with me today about world politics, and respecting eachother. His life was taken by a drunk driver a week before we to meet back up at the camp the next year.
Even though he is still alive, my old college roommate Jason who is battling the demons of drug use. I havent spoken with him in over a year, and I hope he is able to conquer his addiction.

Re: A moment of silence...
My brother(1970), my grandpa(1984) my grandma(1988)
And my niece who is still alive but decided meth was more important(again) than family, friends and her own daughter.
Does furry count? My parents put my dog down last week and tomorrow I will go home and he won't be waiting at the gate for me.

Re: A moment of silence...
My daughter Desi is in Iraq for the second Christmas. She was born on Christmas so it makes it even harder not to have her here with us. Next year, we'll be love'n on her.
She is in Fallujah as a ammunitions specialist. She is a corporal for the Marines Military Police.
We love you Desi!

Re: A moment of silence...
There are a lot of relatives, friends and people that have made impressions on my life. The older I get, the more that join this list. I think of them at various times and my heart beats a little faster.
My memory grows faint, but then one of these people explodes out in my thoughts, and I close my eyes and remember those times that were so important.
When I fish Big Creek, I remember a couple, Wilbur and Enid, that taught me the pleasures of this small stream. Gone now but remembered.
I could go on but I think I will lean back and have that precious moment of silence in all their behalf.
