I use a 7'6" Celilo for sturgeon. It works pretty well (for a pool cue  ). It's boated 3 fish over 8'4" to 8'6". It has held up well for several years of hard use. I think they are pretty good rods for the money.

I lost my Lamiglas overboard a couple years ago and I picked one up at Englunds. It performed just fine. Great for heavy hardware, like down @ the coast. I use it for a back-up rod now. Bought one for a friend last year. They like it. It catches fish. For a cheap rod it is a good rod.

I bought an 8'6" last year at the Sportmans Show. It's a great backup rod. (I had a Loomis out of action)It is a bit stiff but worked fine for quickfish and divers. For the price, it is all you could ask for.

I've got an 8'6" Celilo 12-25lb rod that I use plunking for steelies in the summertime. It's also been to B10 this past fall when the silvers were coming in! As far as the action on it, I like it. It's got a limber tip, but the rod body has some backbone with it too! It'll definitely handle a nice steelie or chinook!

I picked up a 9 1/2' 6-12 for bobber/jig and it seems to do well. I'd buy another.

I bought an 8'6" with an Okuma reel attached, the reel is great, the rod not so great. My intention was to use it for sturgeon mainly, and salmon as a back up. Well my first trip to Kelley point decided otherwise, the rod broke above the reel on the hookset, and no it wasn't some super big hookset either. Anyway, the blank does not go through the handle, so it is less sturdy than a Berkeley (which by the way is my favorite for slow current sturgeon). In my opinion, the reels are great for the money, the rod I could do without.
(By the way, Bi-mart replaced the rod and I now use it for a boat rod for trolling spinners for salmon, so far so good)

I have a Celilo one piece 7'10' and it's a rod I've used for 2 seasons in the salt and it's agood stick! I've used it with med-heavy divers, downriggers, and mooched 4-8 oz. w/it. It's a good one and for the $$ being a one piece it's a good value. The Berkley Buzz series is on sale somewhere now for $59+change. The Celilo one piece is a good one for the BUCK! Try it. I have Loomis, Lamiglss, Dawai, Penn, etc and still it goes with me on the ocean every time. 42 POUNDER this season in the salt with it!

you just cant have too many rods can you? I think I will try a couple out for trolling rods. 8'6" 10-20 and 10-30. I recently use an okuma avenger reel (30) on steelhead and was quite impressed for the money. Just saw that Okuma was one of the Ifish sponsors and noticed they make lots of poles. thanks for the input. Bill

banknit,

They're about the same in price if the Buzz's are on sale. I think I picked up my Ramsey for $55.00 on sale at Joes and the Okuma at Joes for the regular $50.00. I love my Buzz Ramsey for salmon fishing, but I like the Okuma for plunking!

I love mine, 12-25 in 8'. Great rod for salmon. Landed a dozen chinooks with it. Biggest, 40lber on the Trask with bobber and Ammermans eggs. You can't go wrong for an inexpensive(not cheap)rod.

I have a spare that my daughter uses that is a 7'10" 12-25 That seems to work ok, The one thing that i dont like about it is the tip, It has this funny bend to it about 10" from the tip. But what can you expect from a 30.00 rod. It has caught fish. great rod for the buck.

I have an 8'6" 6-12lb Celilo Rod and Epixor EF30 rod and reel which I purchased with the intention of using just for Summer Steelhead. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and I already had a great Winter Steelhead rod w/Ambassadeur 5001C reel, which I had purchased years ago. I just needed something a little lighter in weight for the summer. The reel actually cost considerably more than the rod!

I used it some for spring/summer, but really didn't start using it a lot until Coho Season. It worked really great! I didn't keep track, but I bet I landed more than 50 Coho on it, this past fall. Even one, very large old Spring Chinook..

Now that winters here, it's the only rod/reel I use, on a regular basis. My old "winter rod" just sits in the trunk, in case of emergency.

Grandpa

I liked it so well in fact, that I purchased another 8-17lb rod, to use with an Ambassadeaur 6501 C4 for fall Chinook. I actually prefer the lighter rod better..

I'm quite sure that a more expensive rod

I bought and Okuma reel and Celilo rod last year. Used it a few times and then used it for sturgeon. The rod snapped at the ferule. Took it back to Bob's and replaced it with an ugly stick and a few extra bucks . Like it a lot better , the okuma reel seems to work just fine seems to have a pretty good drag on it.

Seems that quite a few people have discussed them on this board...you should get some decent responses.

I've used an Okuma Conniseur(sp)as a back-up rod on my boat for guests, and they've never complained. The Celilo, I believe, is actually a step above.

I have one that I used last fall on the Columbia for Chinook. It performed very well for a "cheap" rod. I think mine is the 12 - 25 or 15 to 30 rated rod. It seems to have a light tip on it but enough backbone to battle a chinook. Largest I brought to the boat was about 25 with at least two others in the 22lb range.

I recently bought a 10' Okuma Celilo spinning rod for my bobber/jig set-up and I am very happy with it. Seems to be a well built rod for the money with good action.

rods are fine handles are craaaaaaap. I picked up a few for emergency spares and without even using them the cork outer wraps fell off the handles. Berkley IM7's have held up for many years of use on my guide boat without any problems.
