Thanks for your interest SR. I tried clicking on my bookmarked link to the old DB to access my extensive posts on egg cures and it wouldn't pull it up. I'll just wing it here for now. ...
At this point in mid- February I assume you are asking for some enhancement mod.s to eggs that were already cured from last fall? BTW, my own custom 'MC Hammer' cure is the only one I didn't share the formula. Gotta have at least one secret cure

; not much more effective than modified OTC's anyway. To enhance eggs that you've already cured up in a good OTC cure (such as Quick Cure, Pro-Cure, or Pro Glo) I will give you some ideas to try. The main thing is to have flexability when egg fishing for chinook salmon in freshwater. By that I mean having 3 or more good cures that are all proven effective yet slightly different, or one good 'broad spectrum base' cure that you can enhance with additives (that base cure is in my STS magazine article on Tillamook Fall Chinook - Oct./Nov. '00 issue). That's because the 'Nooks are often finicky biters that change their preferences from week to week and even day to day. Some years the fish seem to bite best on a particular cure all season long. Keep some of your cured eggs just stock - the OTC cures are very effective these days and may be what the fish want the days you fish. Enhance some of them the night before fishing to take along to compare; especially if fish are being caught and your OTC cure hasn't gotten bites as is. Try lightly sprinkling on some MSG, extra sugar, and very lightly some sodium nitrate on some of your eggs. Keep them in small identified containers so you know which are getting bites. For example, if the ones with the nitrates (or just MSG or other enhancer) are producing better then you can sprinkle on a little bit of additive right out in the boat (or bank) on some of the other eggs while they sit a while absorbing it. ... Some other things that can enhance the productivity of your eggs are (try these sparringly, and not all at once; perhaps by the cluster until you find what they want): quality garlic powder or oil in light amounts, very light amount of vanila extract, light spray of WD40, various bait oils (such as shrimp, sardine/herring, crawfish, cod liver oil - and squid oil is underated effective!), tiny drops of 70% solution of DMSO with a little sodium sulfite shaken into it (be very careful not to let it touch your skin!) ... do some research and experimenting; there are many things that can work very well at times. Another tip: these additives can also help cured prawn's effectiveness; again, used lightly. E-mail me with how these things work for you. - RT
