Default Spring Salmon

Are there any good fishing spots for spring salmon around Puget Island? When would the fishery in that area start?

Thanks

Welcome to Ifish C-3. Can you tell me where Puget Island is? If it's in the lower Columbia as I seem to recall (rather than Puget Sound), there are some early springers swimming thru there there now. It should get better every week until the commercial netters put in. Then it will get better again about a week or so after the c. nets come out. As for specific spots there I don't know them. If that's the island just out of Cathlamet, Wash. try along the north side of it. Watch for other successful boaters. Also try anchoring in the outgoing tide in about 12' to 20' of water, or trolling the incoming tide in 12' to 25' of water (the fish will push out into a little deeper water in the softer incoming tidal currents). Try just out from or even behind the wing jetties too. Hopefully someone more familiar with that area can provide better details for you. Good luck. - RT

Thanks a million RT. I think I'll take a drive to skmokawa this weekend and look the place over. A week of good springer fishing would do a lot for my outlook on life.
