I just love Cabelas!

It's funny that you mention this when I just posted something about Cabelas in the topic about waders. I got my new spring catalog yesterday and I spent a good hour (both in and out of the bathroom) turning page after page. Too bad you didn't get yours until today!

My wife just cringes and sighs when it comes in the mail. And you just can't be a Cabelas lover without the official Cabelas Visa. Earn points baby!

One of my favorite rods is a Cabelas 8.5 6-10 lb fisheagle II teamed up with a Diawa 1300 spinning reel for tossing spinners. A bit light, but its good - and reasonable!

One guy in town here (out in the brush of E. Oregon) flys to one of their stores (Minnestota?) and stocks up once a year. Yes, it must be tough to have cash. Some of us work for a living. I only look at the pictures and druel.....

Got my feet up right now, gota have one of those and gota have 2 of these. My wife hates this my Cabela's Bibles also. They may cost more but you always can find it in that book.

Hmmm, mine didn't come in the mail today.Cabela's is great place to buy tackle in bulk and save money.They always have good deals on fishing line and their clothing is good quality at a reasonable price.

Not only do they have good product and prices but they stand behind their products too. I have sent clothing back after almost a year and got credit for something else. The only complaint I have ever had is when they run out of prime gear like hooks and line in times of need! I also get disappointed when they redesign some things like the Guide waders and they remove key features like A$$ pads to save a little cost.

I live and die with catalog orders from many firms, but Bass Pro and Cabela's are the two clear winners for freshwater. Over the years, I've returned a spinning reel and two broken rods to Cabela's for credit/ replacement/ upgrade NO QUESTIONS. In fact, I didn't even return the two rods as I live in Singapore. I sent them an email telling them how they broke, and they honored the warranties. They also sent me two free replacement drag disks for fly reel that the saltwater critters had burned up.

That is superb service. I also notice that their turnaround time on orders is far, far faster than for Bass Pro. Sadly, I also notice that in recent years fewer and fewer pages in the Cabela's Master Spring Catalog are devoted to fishing lures. Seems that clothes get more and more space every year, but here in the tropics you can fish in a loincloth (and sunscreen), so who needs clothes?

Why wait for the catalog? Just go to www.cabelas.com.
Cabelas is only my second favorite. The Sportsman's Guide sells stuff DIRT CHEAP.

The website is a great place to shop, but the best place to shop is sitting with your catalog in the bathroom or the easy chair with your feet up with the dog laying there groaning everytime she moves, the fire roaring, the rain on the roof (maybe not this year)... sorry I sound like Jen just then.

There is no sub. for a catalog. And when you are done with the catalog you can start a fire with it! Try doing that with the web-site.

I got my catalog last saturday. I haven't put it down since. Does anyone know who makes their fish eagle II blanks? I thought I've heard lamiglass in the past. I was thinking of buying their muskie rod GMU764 for a friend to use for springers from the boat this year? Looks like a decent rod at the right price. I've never been dissapointed with cabelas before. When I worked for ODFW, their waders were my work clothes and they lasted for ever. Long live cabelas.

Cabellas offers a credit card that is a pretty good deal. You receive cabellas points equal to 1 1/2 percent of your purchases. Your accumulated points are listed on your credit card statement so you know how much you have earned. When you order something they just deduct the points. It usually works out to be a beter deal then airline miles. I think they charge $25 per year for the card, but they also give you $25 a year in free points. They probably have the details on their web site.

I'm not saying that I spend a lot there, but last August I didn't order anything from Cabellas (We were up in Canada on the boat). When we returned there was a sympathy card in the mail that Cabellas had sent my wife.

You wanna do some serious shopping, actually go to the big store in Sydney, NE. I've been to the one in Minnesota, but prefer going to the one in Sydney. And no, I'm not made of money. But my great grandparents homesteaded and pretty much founded a few of the cities down in SW Nebraska. Well, they have a big family reunion down in Chase County every two years. I always make it a point to go to Cabela's. Funny thing is, when I land in Denver, it's a quick drive to Imperial, NE. Well, I do a good 100 mile roundtrip detour to hit Cabela's. I'm not sure if you've seen pictures or read about the bargain cave? It's filled with discontinued and returned goods. I bought a Cabela's guidewear rainjacket there for (this is true mind you) $30!!!! Why was it returned??? It leaked under torrential downpours. LOL What jacket besides rubber won't?? It's never leaked and is great. Rods, guns, you name it. Ok, enough Cabela's. I'm getting anxious. Next reunion is this August. Don't want to get too excited.....

Ah yes, SH69, the bargain cave! One of the guys running the fishing section has a list of goodies to keep an eye out for that I passed on to him via my father in law. Stuff in the cave is perfectly fine - it's my understanding that anything returned for any reason goes in there, including stuff like returned lefthanded retrieve reels when someone actually wanted righthanded, etc. I picked up a $60 Curado, cheap Guidewear, a $30 Fish Eagle II 8.5 footer, and all sorts of other crap. Next time you're in there, say hello to Gene in the hunting section for me!

I was just at 'the bargain cave'. Gotta love going by the mountain of mounts to get to it. I need a cat 5 w/ rj45 connection in my bathroom so I can sit in there and be on line. Then, life would truly be perfect.

I have been dealing with Cabela's for more than 20 years. Great place. They opened a new retail outlet last year near where I grew up - Mitchell, SD - was there last summer (Picked up 600 yrds of braided dacron - 80# test for $10) - If you haven't been to one of their retail stores, it's worth the trip. Of course, Sydney is the best of all... all returns go there first unless they're walk ins. The Credit card is a great deal, like all others, best if you carry no balance.

The Club Card is a definite must have!

But I will have to say that their web site sucks! It is so hard to find stuff on it and not everything in the catalog can be found online from my experience. Just my $.02 though.
