Here's one you won\'t see every day!
Probably one of the most unique Grip N Grins you'll see from me. My wife with a fish she caught while in the Antarctica! Like I said, you won't see that every day!

Is that a GLoomis (mickey mouse) pole laying in the snow? Looks like my sons.

Re: Here's one you won\'t see every day!
Parker, was your wife on some sort of research team? You don't hear of many people that vacation there. ... And what kind of fish is that little bass looking thing? Is the rumor true that Kid Sauk has a similar fish mounted on his wall of trophy's? Are the seals and pengins kind of skinny down there, or are there bigger fish available? I want you to look at the jury Mr. Parker and tell us point blank; did your wife snag that fish on the Snoopy Pole and then hold that helpless creature up just to get a picture of a ... ah ... trophy native fish? ANd now Mr. Parker, you look me right in the eye and find an adequate way to explain something to the jury. Your wife if very pretty Mr. Parker, and you Sir are extrememly homely. How can you explain that to this court Mr. Parker?!? ,,,,, "That's all the questions we have for the witness at this time your honor. We do retain the right to recall Mr. Parker again. We now turn the witness over to the defense."

Re: Here's one you won\'t see every day!
Great shots Parker! You and your wife are exonerated of all charges . "No flossing sculpins" - lol. And of course anyone can see from the Floatilla group pic that you are indeed a handsome fella. ...
As soon as Kid Sauk sees the 'nekked' pic how long do you think it will take for him to sign up for the expedition?
An interesting thing I saw on a cable outdoor expedition type TV show was pods of killer whales going after seals and penguins in the Antartic. I think they said there were no polar bears there so the seals/penguins are more plentiful than way up north. Did your wife see any killer whales while down there? What other types of fish are down there; and any worthwhile sportfishing; or just too cold?

Re: Here's one you won\'t see every day!
Funny you should mention Killer Whales.
She's got some great video of a big bull killer whale bumping the ice and spy hopping them!
Killer whales will bump the ice if they see penguins and seals sitting on the edge of the ice flow. Once they bump the ice, they will pop straight up, half way out of the water, and "spy" the ice edge to see if they knocked anything over.
Basically, that Bull Killer Whale was hoping to knock a person in the water for dinner.
You are correct in saying that there are no polar bears in the Antarctic and there are no penguins in the Arctic. Because there are really no natural land-based prey to the seals and penguins, they are plentiful and tend to let you come right up to them. They could care less about humans. Now, Killer and Minki Whales will get a seals and penguins attention in a hurry!
No, I don't think the Antarctic will become the next hot fishery.

Re: Here's one you won\'t see every day!
Cool thread Parker. I'm planning a trip to the North Pole this summer--I was wondering if your wife could join me ;^), I here the fishin' is better up there. On second thought my 6' Blonde German bombshell would probably kill both of us before we boarded the plane!! You have perfected the system. "You want to go to Antarctica honey? No problem." Makes it hard for her to tell you NO when you want to go fishing!!
Peace, Hawg.

Re: Here's one you won\'t see every day!
My wife applied for and received a National Science Foundation Grant for the United States Antartic Program. The program is a 5-week long science class that teaches graduates students and faculty how to do research in Antarctica.
She was stationed at McMurdo
No, it's not a bass. Some sort of sculpin critter.
Seals are everywhere and will always come out any hole you make in the ice!
You'll also find some penguins.
No, the wife caught that fish on a small spoon. It was not snagged, flossed, or lined.
This native fish was placed in holding tank for "research" purposes. Once the "research" was finished, this nice nate was released back in to the water.
Hey, money goes a long way these days!
