TUNA! disease flareup
Last night, a group of afflicted waterfowlers from the Hunting board got together for a midseason DA meeting at the Decoy in Linnton. There were about half-dozen of us there intently discussing honey holes, war stories, duck boats, guns, gadgets and the like.
Then, all of a sudden, TUNA! entered the conversation, and dominated our discussion for over a half-hour (four of us are afflicted by TUNA! as well).
It took a serious effort to reel the group from offshore back to the marsh.
Even when afflicted with multiple diseases, the TUNA! disease flares up uncontrollably in the middle of duck hunting season.

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
Yes, Marshbum has it terribly bad. Thanks to you! (I have Tracker to thank...)
Marshbum, myself, Hoggemin and Blast and Cast got talking about what we were doing with our off-season stash of TUNA! Then, Hoggemin went on and on about long-range trips, making me want to have a bunch more rods ready for next season.

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
Penicillin wont fix it, sauves wont fix it, Viagra is only a temporary distraction Pfizer or Merck have yet to come up with a cure
Apparently the only remedy is to scratch it, and that is best done with the 125 line.

An' there ain't nobody safe, neither. I wuz at the dentist and ended up talkin' to the little dental gal about tuna fishing. I was right at the point where I was gonna bring her in some canned tuna when they gave me extra novacaine to shut me up.
Wonder if there'll be anything to talk about at the New Year's party....

Die hards indeed... heh.
I'm starting to think I need to revise the way in which I describe myself to others. No omissions... just additions.
I'm going to the dentist... I'll see if anyone there TUNA! fishes or desires to taste real TUNA! In fact, I'll just bring a bunch of cans and start handing them out when I get there... I may want to wait until they're done though. I can't imagine TUNA! and Nitrile taste good together... or maybe...

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
Go out to the garage, get a cooler and some cleaning stuff, then go outside in the dark and clean the cooler(even if it doesn't need it!), pretend you've just returned from a tuna trip! In your mind, relive your best trip from this past summer!
It'll work about as well as anything else will - short of an actual fishing trip!

Fastwater,
Let's hear the good details. I read you had some bad weather on the other site. Still like to hear the stories.

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
I just put one of my DVD's in the player and watch the "Bodies hit the Floor" Wife just leaves the room shaking her head. 5 year old daughter likes to sing along with the songs. Sons friends run for the door if I come near fearing I will make them watch the vids again. I did get a small repremand from the boss. Says one of my customers really liked the work I did in their house but suggested I could have got it done quicker if I had not talked about tuna so much!

I can't wait 'til Duckboy starts asking about a radar arch for the Duckbomber, and starts mounting rocket launchers on her.
But I also admit to personally having both maladies, and have been known to lay out in the mud making goosey sounds.

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
There seems to be a common thread between duckers and tuna junkies. Maybe the love of pre dawn voyages, maybe the degree of specialization, or maybe just plain old fashioned straight jacket insanity.
A man has to be pretty insane to cover himself from head to toe in marsh mud or TUNA! blood... and claim he loves it.
I'm really, really glad I never got into golf.
I'm counting down the days until Teton sells his clubs to buy some Avets.
... Doh! If only I had taken up golf.
I don't even know why I'm reading this forum this time of year

Spent an hour talking about duck hunting at the last T/A meeting. I think it goes both ways.

As a couple of friends and fellow TUNA! bums like to say ..
"I love golf!"
'Huh?'
"Yeah, it's great wish more people were into it"
'Dude, you don't own even one club, whaddya mean you love golf?'
"Well that's the thing that guys are doin instead of fishing at that same time of year. Wish everybody golfed. They can leave the fishin to me."

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
Yes Marshbum, I used to play a LOT of golf. That is, until I bought a boat. On those days when I can do either, I look at the boat, look at the clubs, and the decision is a no-brainer. The clubs stay at home. My handicap has ballooned...who cares? When my father in law comes to town (he's a 0-handicapper) and wants to play golf, my wife gets mad at me for ditching him because I'm fishing.
This TUNA! disease flareup had me back on Charkbait.com and alltackle.com comparing prices on new Avets yesterday. Right in the middle of duck season when I need to be spending money on a new layout blind, boxes and boxes of ammo or fuel for the duck barge.
I surmise that a duck hunting disease and a TUNA! disease complement each other quite nicely. They don't compete for the same time period, and one disease somewhat keeps the afflicted's mind off his other disease in corresponding off seasons.

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
Boy one of those Avet LX 2-speeds would compliment the other avets on my boat the next time you go for a ride! I would ask that you get one of the purple ones but I think Hoggemin has bought them all up! I have such good crew! They all are buying avets. Soon I think I will be all avet all the time!

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
Just got back from two days of training in Portland. Stocked up on more TUNA gear. I get home my wife just looks at it and shakes her head.
I had to let her know that it is like a security blanket, it lets me know that I will be back to chase more of them fishies.. We are a sick group and the farther you are from the ocean the worst the withdrawls.

Re: TUNA! disease flareup
Ok, You guys are not helpin me much. I've tried pacifing my addition with price shopping online for avets. And working on the boat gettin ready for the next tuna trip.
Here's the kicker, Thinkin about takin the boat to the river and doin a practice troll on the spread. Outriggers and all. Last time I did this the coast guard went by goin the other way, got 3 of 'em out of the cabin lookin. I'm sure they had a good laugh seein someone in the Willamette River trolling for tuna.
See what Sadie Lynne started? Thanks!!
Just a thought, I wonder if the wife will let me decorate the Christmas tree with tuna lures?

Or a wing. I'm running on some river tomorrow to get the oil warmed up and alternator tested. Gotta change oils and fluids for storage. I will only put 5 miles or so on it.
Prolly Columbia out of portco since that's on the way.
Need a wing?

Going to Disneyland the second week of January. Have whole day planned to be at Charkbait! Now I just wish I could find a very large bag of money to spend there.
