I fished below the ladder, hitting all the small holes for about a mile down stream.

Water was still creamy green, but lowering as we speak.

Covering water was key (8 hours each day).

Hey smokywhal'n what's your technique for low clear water,I hiked 1 1/2 miles of the creek Sunday right in the general area your talking about and didn't sniff a fish, I was floating a jig under a bobber in the pools and drifting a glo-bug thru the white water...please I gotta know your secret....

Last Cast:

Ive fished almost every weekend and many week days since Sept. Guides, banks, friends with boats. Ive seen bankies land fish in the same hole using opposite colors, different weights, leaders arnging from 2-5'.

There were many, many, many, days that I was skunked after putting in 10+ hours on the water. Fished 24 hours straight(in Washington) a couple times with not even a bite.

I started fishing for winter steelies mid november and did not catch first one until mid January.

Im quite convinced that time on the water, covering as much water as possible and trying different techniques in the same hole is a good equation for success.

Last weekend I was packing a drift rod, (eggs, shrimp, corkies), a bobber rod/reel, and a spinning rod/reel.

This is absolutely a pain, carrying three rods, but I always had a line in the water, with a different set up. No time wasted changing rigs.

I hooked everything on shrimp last weekend in low, clear water.
