Default British Columbia

I was am thinking of going after kings this summer in bc. I have been looking at lodges on the internet such as, rivers inlet, bucks trophy lodge, Black Gold Lodge, and Salmon King Lodge. Any thoughts on which one is the best (lodge, fishing, boats, service)? I would appreciate any opinions or info on past experiences.

From what I've heard and read they are al pretty good Adam. I suggest calling toll free directory assistance (1-800-555-1212) and get the number for "Tourism B.C." and also "Oak Bay Marine Group" headquartered in Victoria. You will be sent a bunch of free literature that is fairly comprehensive on the sites you mentined as well as many others. I hope someone that has been to these places may reply to your Q here. Good luck. ... Hey, can I come . jk - RT

Adam, Bucks Trophy Lodge at River Inlet is a place I highly recommend, I been there five times. The big kings show up here in late July and the run peaks in mid August. There is also excellent coho fishing at Rivers Inlet from the middle of July to the middle of September. When I talked with Marc and Shelly at the early Portland show, they were almost booked for the entire season and they already had several bookings for the prime dates next year. Here is there web site www.buckstrophylodge.com

Adam
About 3 years ago I had the opportunity to go to B.C. to fish for Salmon and Halibut with my father and brother. We chose an excellent place that was "Top Notch". The lodge(not a floater), the boats, gear, guides(highly recommend) and especially the food(sit down not buffet)and drinks(not just beer and wine). A first class operation as you can see on their website: www.hakai.com

P.S. The fishing was excellent, but you couldn't keep the coho off the lines so Chinook were tough to get. Halibut was good too.
Good Luck.

Well I guess I'll throw in too. I've been up to Painters Lodge which is one of Oak Bay's places near Campbell River. It's about half way up Vancouver Island on the east side. Been going now for the last eight years and always caught fish. The web site is www.obmg.com then you can see all the places they run and operate. Awesome fishing... and the beer is good too..
