help on graduation paper

hello my name is bryant vicklund i am a junior in highschool and i atten jackson high in mill creek. for a graduating requirment you must write a scholary paper on your subject. my subject that i choose was on commercial fishing and i am against it! i was wondering if anyone had any information or know of any websites, books, magazines, ect. that they could tell me to help me write this paper. my thesis statement is " commercial fishing is the main cause of the declining pacific salmon" if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Change the title to "'GILLNET' fishing is the main cause of the declining pacific salmon".....This allows you to diversify the topic a little, and cover Indian abuse as well....

You might consider changing your thesis to 'Commercial and Indian Gillnetting are the biggest in river causes of Columbia River salmon decline - other than the dams'. You are taking on a very complex issue. You will learn a lot and likely do well with your paper. Will you share it with us later? Good luck. - RT

C'mon RT, let's not give this guy any wrong ideas. I know how you stand on this issue but Indian gillnetting is not a CAUSE of the Columbia River salmon decline. Things were going fine until the white man mucked things up with dams and hatcheries and poor land use etc. Sure, the Indian gillnetters aren't doing much to help now but they aren't to blame for the decline.

Hey bvicklund - Careful when reading and getting information from posts on this board. It seems that some of these guys are a little biased and they might not tell the whole truth. Good luck on the paper!

bvicklund, listen up, these guys probably don't remember what a school is, moreless why they attended It doesn't matter what your thesis is, as long as you give evidence to support your thesis. Remember, your thesis can be opinionated, but you have to have evidence to support your opinion. I think some good legislation either just passed or is on the charts to be voted on about commercial gillnetting in the Columbia, where the commercials will have to use the tangle tooth nets instead. There's all kinds of info out there, and don't just dive into your paper from just one source. Get several different pieces of evidence from various sources, and remember to credit those sources in your paper.
