Default Sturgeon Fishing

Having never tried for Sturgeon before I am in need of a little enlightenment. Are there any "good spots" on the Willamette or is the Coulumbia the place to try? Is the idea to find the deep holes or does it really matter? I have seen a few post that mention Pickeled Sqid? and or Smelt? Is that the bait of choice? What is the rule of thumb as far as dropping anchor near other boats? How much room is ideal, again, does it matter? I have always assumed that the gear is much like a Halibut rig. How far off am I? Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

AJ
