Default Stott mtn elk hunt help needed

My wife drew a cow tag for stott mtn east. We have been out for the last couple of days and havent even seen fresh tracks. Does anyone know where there may be some elk? It will be my wifes first elk and we would really appreciate the help. You can pm me if you want to. There are only 54 hunters with this tag.

If you can hunt around Valsetz, there is a lot of walk in area and lots of elk. That is where I would be.

If you go through Falls City, stay to the right and head up Black Rock. That will keep you well with in the Stott mtn. unit. There a decent numbers of elk in there, just hope for the gates to be open (not sure if they allow anyone in there this late in the year other than weekends). Lots of clear cuts and open areas to look at from landings. If you don't go in there than hit any of the white gates on the south side of the hwy out of Grand Rohnde heading towards the coast. Lots of nice country in there as well.
