Hi Newbee,
Have been fishing sturgeon lately on the yaquina and have had some decent success. There are sturgeon around but the crab and mudcats have been a problem clear up to the mill in Toledo. I've been fishing the outgoing tides using sand shrimp or mud shrimp and looking for holes and fishing the sides where they drop off. Are you going to be boat or bank fishing? Have seen a few spots that could bank fished. I had pretty much decided that the outgoing tide was the optimum time to fish for sturgeon, but a guy at the boat ramp today at ebb was all jacked 'cuz the tide was just getting good. Let me know if you need more info, I'm pretty familiar with the bay up to quarry creek.

Aye Fsh,
Thanks for the help. I do have a boat, how deep are you fishing? In the channel, on the edge? Thanks again,
KRM

I've been running around finding the deeper spots in the channel (which are only 20 - 30 ft) and then setting up off to the sides and putting my bait up on the flat next to the edge. The bait is probably sitting in 10 - 15 ft. water. I have also had success fishing some larger flats in shallow (4 - 7 ft.) water. I have never done any good fishing into the holes, unless you want to count mudcats. Hope for rain, it will get rid of the bait robbers and is suppossed to make the sturgeon fishing better. I think I will be there that same weekend, if it's the seafood and wine festival. What kind of boat will you be in? I'm in a 19' green N. River, and will be upstream of marker 31 somewhere I'm sure. Let me know if you need more.
