I've got 5 Utah Elk points maybe in about 5 years I'll have a chance to draw and with my luck the herd quality will be in the tank. It's arguable but I believe a premier Utah elk tag is as good as a premier Arizona elk tag right now. Maybe one of these years I'll draw and be able to post pictures of a hog like that one.

The reason they have so many big elk is because there are so few tags. UT tags are becoming once in a lifetime.

This is very true. Navada is also in the running, very few tags though.

Utah has gone heavily to trophy elk management. It's tough to draw a tag in many areas but good night they've got some big bulls over there. They also have alot of private land enrolled in their Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit program. The unit provides tags to the landowner/operator. In exchange some tags are also made available to the public through the draw. CWMU & and other private land tags cost big $$ - about 10-12 grand for a big bull rifle hunt during the rut and up from there for the really big bulls. When I win the lottery, you'll know where to find me.

Big bulls for sure one in a lifetime hunt. I have 4 points and according to the odds it is looking like I have 6 more to go before I have a chance at a tag. It is definitly worth the wait they grow some huge bulls in that state. the only down side is the tag is $795 and i don't doubt by the time I draw it will be higher.

Utah is a pipe dream for the average hunter. UT has turned into a once in a lifetime deal. You will wait 12 to 15 years to draw one of the premier units. That is unless you have the dough to buy a tag. Then you can go every year. Just plan on spending 20,000 to 50,000 every year. Some day.....
