Re: Shrimp scent shelf life? ...Marie
I have been making this shrimp scent since about September 23, 2000.
I do put preservative in it. But it is a food product for fish, not for humans.
I tell everyone to keep it cold. But if you do keep an extra bottle keep it in your freezer. After 30 to 45 days it may go bad if you don't keep it in your freezer.
So far I have had absolutly no problem with it going bad. I just checked some thats been around since last september and it smells great.
Check your fridge and make sure its running at 38 degrees. If you open your fridge several times a day it gets too warm inside to keep it fresh.
My fridge is set at 35 degrees, because it gets opened all the time.
The colder the better.
Oh and by the way some people are very sensitive to shrimp smells. Sorry about that... But the fish say "THANK YOU!"
Good luck!
Marie
