Been a couple weeks, but it was really good. I'll be back out there tomorrow, I expect nothing but limits

Can you guys help me locate where to crab out of Hammond, I crab Tillamook and Nehalem but ive never gone up there on the columbia. How long of rope for my traps do I need, turkey legs or fish for bait ? Is my 13 foot Gregor too small ? I just need a general idea what to expect when I come up in fair weather.

If it's not windy, your boat should be ok (definitely NO east wind). 50' is more than enough rope. Bait doesn't matter. Look for other pots.

I tried to crab out of Hammond today. It was very windy . Forecast called for 5-10mph east. I would say it was more like a steady 30 mph. It was pretty bad. The people that were going out were just dropping their pots and heading back in. I didnt feel safe out there with my two boys so we decided to bag it. Cannon Beach and Seaside are still without power by the way. djb

A place to check conditions. It may be calm and foggy here but howling like a banshee there.
