Default any good, romantic restaurants in McMinnville?

I'm taking my wife on an overnight friday. Pops is watching the kid. Thanks dad! I think we'll stay overnight at the mcmennemins, but want someplace nice for a good meal, with nice atmosphere. price is not an issue (she's paying, and her boss was VERY NICE with the xmas bonus (Thanks boss!)
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
GBS

Joel Palmer House in Dayton. I have yet to eat here, but I hear it is fantastic, albeit pricey.

I will second the Palmer House. It has been a couple of years, but boy did we enjoy it. Try the mushroom tart.

Romatic, NIcks on 3rd street.. one block down from McMinns. Never been inside.. just name.

Brew pub? maybe.. not sure if they serve morning grub.
McMinns, does.
Place next door to Mcminns on 3rd street, was called the trask brewery. have not been there since change over.

3rd & baker, is a little place, alway's a line to get in. I lived in mac all my life, no clue on the name of the place.

tommy's, on one end of town. Is good eating, local hang out.

those are the only ones I can think off hand.

Nicks, dundee bistro (ponzi bistro), tinas, red hills. I think the ponzi bistro is the best.

I would say all of those...they are all on 3rd street off Baker it you are looking them up. there is one place but I cant remember the name of it. a bit spendy but REALY romatic...they have a set menu changing each night and you pay by the plate and choose your meal course by course. Definitey a NO KIDS sort of place. I didnt eat there as I had the kids but it looked nice. I think it was Nicks.

The Joel Palmer House is definitely 5 star. The chef specializes in mushroom dishes and hand picks them fresh from the wild himself.

I haven't been there in about three years but he would do a seven course mushroom dinner based on whatever entree your ordered. All seven courses would feature mushrooms. From the soup to the desert. No, not all have the same type of mushrooms but the type did vary depending on what he found fresh in the coastal range. That meal was about $50 back then but worth it at least once in your life. Luckily, I was on a company expense.

Don't forget La Rambla just a block from mcmennemins it is a real nice spanish restaurant and within walking distance. Dinner apps and drinks for 2 110.00.

Palmer house is awesome for a steak and mushrooms and some red wine. Great meal you know the small portions great presentation a true meal to taste and enjoy real slow, but you do have the drive 15 min. Dinner for 2 130.00

Nicks is great too lots of food good wine great itialan place, very romantic atmosphere you can not leave there hungry thats for sure. Good walking distance as well.

Cuvee' in the little town of Carlton not far away. Small and quiet. Authentic French and IMHO pretty expensive. But you get what you pay for. Great wines and real earthy french food. The only Escargot I've had in the states that I liked.

Hey GBS,
Best Italian meal I've had in Oregon was at Nicks. We used to eat there a lot before moving to Bend and have made the trip up just to eat there several times. As you can guess I'm just a tinsey bit picky about my Italian food. I think it's better than Genoa by a mile.

The restaurant used to just be the front room (about 25 seats), but they openned up the back room a while ago. I think the back room was a little bit more romantic as the front room is more of a storefront and be kind of cramped. Then again, the back room doesn't have much (if any) natural light so it can be kind of a cave. It might be nice to sit by the front window (if they still have seating there) if they have a lot of Christmas lights up in town.

I hope they have the marinated/grilled asparagus as one of the appetizers. Soups are awesome and I've never had less than an excellent main course. I heard that Nick had sold the place and retired a few years ago, but he was training the new owner for a long time to ensure the quality. Another nice thing is that it'll be an easy stroll back to the hotel for an after dinner drink.

Man am I ever jealous! Way to go Mer's boss!!! I wish my boss would write me a big fat check for Christmas. He can be such a jerk!
