Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I've got it narrowed down to these two.
Reviews all point towards the palm. I'm leaning towards the palm.
I've looked at both and talked to people who own them. They like them respectively.
Now I'm branching out my quest for reviews.
Ifish people know and opinions are trusted.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I have the Treo and I like it. Here is one more bonus: I dropped it in the river this weekend at the take out. It must have been in the water for 30 minutes as I wating for the truck on the turnaround. I dried it out on the defroster on the way home and it works fine.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I know the Trio uses a stylus and a touch screen. Does the Blackberry? I've had a number of Palm devices and just can't imagine not having the touch screen functionality.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I have used Palm, palm V, ipaqs, treo, Blackberrys.. of all the treo is the most functional and usable. however it still is not great. Allo the PDAs with phone options are horrible phones, and my treo 650 requires a reboot more often than any PC, battery life sucks on all too.
But that is what you pay for connectivity.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I have a Treo and its ok, I have to reboot often due to it locking up. The stylis is great and makes it easy to navagate. At my work we have a mix between the treo, the audiovox and the Q all have plusses and minuses. The people that have the Q seem to like them alot. If you ever try to dial a number when you in your car do not get the audiovox. I have no experience with the blackberry but I say that anything that doesnt use a microsoft based program would be more stable. My father has the new nokia PDA phone and loves it. just my 2 cents

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
When I travel the bulk of the PDAs I see folks using are Blackberries. Been pondering getting one myself.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
The choice really depends on what you are using it for. Blackberries aren't all that advanced of PDA's. Their main benefit is email sync so that you can send and receive email easily. I've had a few and haven't been extremely impressed, but they work well for what they are intended for. Treos are a bit more multifunctional. They have all sorts of fun programs available as well. Having worked for one of the major wireless companies in customer service and tech support, I can tell you that the treo is a bit sensitive to abuse, and can be pretty finicky.
If you're a T-Mobile subscriber, they do have a really nice pda called the MDA. It's a mini computer basicly. It runs Windows Mobile and has the capability for highspeed wireless internet.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I have had a Blackberry for about a year now. It is work phone, but I miss my cell. My carrier will only allow one number for one device, otherwise I would ditch the Blackberry on the weekends. The Blackberry has limited blue tooth capacity and lacks even simple phone functions. I haven't had many problems with funtionality or rebooting. The internet function is great for checking tides, ocean conditions, forecasts etc.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I love my blackberry. I chose the blackberry as it is set up to sync with my work email the best so I didn't even bother looking into treo. As far as blackberry goes, it is has been great. I've had to reboot a couple of times but I think it's cause of my carrier (cingular ) and not the devise. I use mine as cell and it is ok. Blue tooth ear-piece helps alot. Overall though it is the greatest gadget I have purchased in a while!

If you do decide on a blackberry, I can give you a whale of a deal on a well used 7100t that I have kicking around.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
I used to do small device software development for the Blackberries and they are more stable than the Treo's but the Treo's have a ton more functionality and things you can do with them. It really depends on what you want to do with it. If you want phone and e-mail only the BB is the way to go. If you want more than that get the Treo.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
For email BB have it hands down on sync'd email..IMAP. next mail type is Push Mail and the Treo does that well. as do many others. Then some only offer POP services. So are you looking for a mail engine?

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
Whatever you decide on, make sure its got bluetooth, also if you have a bluetooth enabled laptop, you can sync both of them together and run the PDA as a "modem" basically wifi internet on the go as long as you have cellular reception. Also this is only good if you get the unlimited data plan.
I am going to set mine up tmr.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
Treo 650 - on the road 30% of my life and it does eliminate my hotel laptop time significantly as I can keep current on email for several accounts and if stuck at an airport check out ifish etc. However It does not go well w/ my fishing lifestyle when home. I've had the keyboard fry on two of them and the mic on a third all from just a few (maybe more than a few) rain drops and another from water dripping off a kwick fish into the gunnel. Anyways the poster above got lucky as mine does not like moister AT ALL!
You'll want to make sure you get a blue tooth headset - not comforatable to use as a phone otherwise and volume can be a problem when just using the headset. I'd like to get the new one thats smaller and doesn't have the antena.
Also - just an fyi - you may find that your thumb knuckle develops pain if you use these things a lot.

Like I siad earlier go with the Treo. But if you decide on a Blackberry to save a few bucks, make sure you get the new Pearl.

Re: Palm treo W or Blackberry?
wetaline.. there is some SW online that helps boost the audio output of the 650.. don't recall its name .. do a google and if you can't find it shoot me a PM.
I do hours of car meetings a day - and the audio volume is a pain. I have switched to a Bose noise canceling headset and that work well.. spendy unit though.
