Default WTB - 40hp+/- Short Shaft with Pump

Have a 16' flat bottom boat and need to reasonably replace the old motor. Looking to get a 40hp or so short shaft with a pump.

Thank you-

Revised with upgraded hp as I was advised the 40 with a pump probably was not going to do it.

You didn't mention if you wanted a tiller or not. Here's one: https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bpo/5929139990.html

The used market for that HP class motor is almost non-existent. Add a pump and a tiller to it and you have a unicorn. If it actually runs well and has diagnostic paperwork, you've got a unicorn that craps rainbows.

I keep an eye on this market because I may have to sell a similar motor and I may have to buy a similar motor. $2700 may seem a bit steep but what do you have it to compare to? Also, you never know how a guy will react if you waive 20 $100 bills in his face.

Check into it. It's what you need.

Here's another. https://roseburg.craigslist.org/boa/5942694912.html

Agree that it probably would be somewhat underpowered for your hull. Powerhead rating minus 30% gives you the approximate revised HP rating. On the plus side, it is a Yamaha.

Wondering why someone told you that a 40 isn't big enough. I have a 40 yamaha on my 16' and it scoots just fine.

Sorry, I posted an older 85xs merc, but I have to talk with my brother first to see if he wants to sell it.

I have a 2003 Mercury 60/40 jet on my 16' sled and it works great. I wouldn't want to put anything bigger on it.

Another good one (also expensive). I *think* the 30hp is the rating at the pump with this one. http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/bpo/5960355730.html

This one looks to still be available: http://roseburg.craigslist.org/boa/5942694912.html

This one also looks to still be available:
