Duckweather on the LC
I could not have asked for more, a stiff 15 mph east wind, a steady rain, great company, a good dog, and plenty of birds (add 4 to the ducks in this photo; we got greedy on the way back to the dock checking out a new honey hole, and it payed off, for once). I'm cold, tired, and soaking wet, but a day of good duckweather and a pile of birds is always worth it.

Looks like fun. Nice job and cool pic. That duck boat looks like it hides pretty well .

Yeah Featherbuster, you'd be surprised how well this NorthRiver and my Weldcraft hide. (that is, they hide around the corner...)

I wish!!
Naw Jon, the diver set up was spot #2, we shot at three spots today (man that was a lot of work). A few here, a few there, they add up.

Re: Duckweather on the LC
Lucky...gosh
Ran into a friend of yours waiting in line at SI thursday night--Tony; got to enjoy his fire alongside the res line. Said he was hunting with a buddy "Dave" who was a lawyer--I said "Teton"? Small world...Had a good shoot Friday; paying pentence at home today and tommorrow. Wish I could pull two days in a row like that with SWMBO...
Looks like you guys had a great day on the LC--thanks for sharing--cool pics.
If you want to do a pre-work hunt this week, send me a PM.--Brian

Re: Duckweather on the LC
Well, this finishes the conversation we were having on the cell before I lost you. I see you rounded out the bag well.
I had visions of broad bills screaming through the rig all day today as my mind drifted down the river to join my brothers.

Ahh haaa,
I know how much work 3 set hunts can be, but look at the bounty you were able to take for your efforts.
Glad to see you getting into em. Enjoy those good duck days, they pass by mighty quick.

Re: Duckweather on the LC
Yeah Brian, Tony mentioned it when we got out to the blind. He and I have hunted for years together (we met at Footbridge in the dark in '99) but its been at least three years since we hit Sauvie. He had a draw and offered to stay in the line; I thought what the heck. Twas a good shoot on Friday. We could only stay a couple of hours, but were only three short of limits. I might head out Wednesday a.m. before work near Vancouver. I'll pm you.
Geoff, we were thinking of you while large flocks of pintail circled and circled, tantalizingly close, but never quite in range (you know how those flocks work out there on that island). Things were pretty fast and furious for the first half hour. Also, we've got another honey hole to add to the list. The diver set up didn't last very long, as we were done pretty quick, and Ruben's dog Reed did a great job retrieving those hardy birds.

Well, I've never done three sets before. We felt pretty satisfied after shooting a nice pile of puddlers, and our divers, but....you know how it goes, you see birds milling around in a slot, and can't pass it up. We felt a second wind and went for it. Persistence usually pays off.
