A bit tired but here we have 3 versions of a minnow imitator I have been tying as of recent. The olive is a sculpin and the blue is a saltwater minnow. They are very heavy but will cast on a 9 weight or better just fine. I also tied a red version that the Kings on the Keni penn. like very much but has no representation to name, its just red. The olive sculpin is tied with eye cavity bumpbell eyes and has additional lead wrap going down the hook shank about 2/3 of an inch . Chen is added to cover and then flashaboo and maraboo hackles to create the wavy body. Tied on salmon steelhead hooks for added strength on LARGE fish. The blue Saltwater Minnow is the same but it has a metallic blue tube something or other as the headwrap over the lead. Holographic eyes are added to give a realistic feel to the fly. Could represent a smelt, anchovey, herring, or any other blue-ish saltwater minnow. Red is all gussyed up with maraboo for an almost roe apeal. Its kind of an all arounder if you have enough colors. They can double as a jig on a spinning rod if your into jig & bobber as well.
If anyone would like tying instruct I will photo and repost the pics
