Cool The Great White North

Yesterday, Quaka Wacka and I journeyed over the mountain for a little antler rattling, photography fun. The dreaded ice fog had rolled in and turned everything into a frost zone.

The rattling action was pretty slow, and the two bucks we did attract came in reeeal slooow!

Around midday we saw some bucks stirring, this being the best buck of the day.

Sooslaw is coming up tonight and we'll try to find some more bucks tomorrow. The adventure continues!

SP, these are great, as always. Do you have a website of all your blacktail shots in one place? I know a lot of folks would like to see that.

No I don't have a website. But thanks for the compliments!

I've considered a calender or a small book with just photos of Blacktailed deer. But with the sub specie being so regionalized, not sure if it would pay for itself?

Gotta give credit where credits due. The pics of the BIG buck with and w/o the doe were shot by Alex. We were coming down the road when he spotted them on his side. I handed my camera to him and said blaze away. They were quite aways off the road, but a little cropping made them more than viewable.

Sure hope the "icefog" lifts by tomorrow morning!

As tree huggerish as this sounds, I REALLY like that first pic! Sweet pics, that one buck is a brute. You are the blacktail whisperer.

If you are ever interested in putting together a calender that would feature your work, I'm sure you would be very marketable.

Just wanted to say thanks again Ron and that spending the day over there was truely amazing. All the big bucks, as well as the great info and stories you shared with me.

And I know that you said that the bucks were pretty timid and the rattling was slow, but I was pretty pumped when those big bucks came sneaking in.
