Time for a Sturgeon update.
Has been an interesting week of discussion....Now how about a Sturgeon update.....Or a Springer update.
Lets get ready to Rumble...or err Fish on the weekend.
Anyone seen a change in the catch rate this week?
Bill

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
Hey Sluttgoddess
I will be out there this weekend with Sonny in his white NR w/SJ and we will be in your best spot. So you will know where we will be. Hopefully we will get more fish again like you did last week. We will see you then. If Sonny doesn't go than I guess I will see if STZII wants to go. (If Genny will let him.) I should know something by tonight. See you then!

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
Fishchaser...I won't be going out until Sunday so you can have the place all to yourself. That way if you don't catch fish you can't blame me for short stopping them.
Gregoitis98....Sounds like it is a little slow all around. Have done best below the mouth of the Willamette.

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
I'm headed back to the Yaquina, got 2 keepers to the boat last weekend. Sand shrimp on a wire leader. Will post any good results.

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
Buddy of mine spoke with good friend of his from WDFG, said the gator fishing is so bad now , cause of the netters, may as well leave the boat in the garage

Slutgoddess
Well of course I should have known, Sonny bogged on me AGAIN!! I'm not making any more plans with him. STZII is back in town so WE are also going out on Sunday. It all depends on the weather and how Pete feels. See you at the boat ramp.

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
I've been out 3 times this last week. Tried Kelly Point, Shenanigans, Sellwood, Railroad Bridge on Columbia, and many places up by the Dam. I worked very hard for about 3 or 4 small shakers. Dont know if they're all down river or what but I give up for now. We even tried for oversized by the Dam for about 6hrs wed.

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
Well, fished the entire outgoing and ebb on the yaquina with one 36 incher to show for it. Had what I thought to be other sturgeon bites but was tooo slow. They are biting very, very light, the one i hooked was two little almost imperceptible bumps. fishing partner did manage to bring in the worlds smallest mud cat, about an inch and a quarter long and hooked in the lip! Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I'll be back there in a few hours. Hope everyone else has better luck than I (may have been the guy that was with me, being cursed and all). Will let you know what happens.

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
Sturgeon fishing has been good on the Fraser, lamprey, salmon roe and smelt is your best baits. We landed a 10'4 last night but most fish are between 2 and 6 feet.

Re: Time for a Sturgeon update.
Hi Vic
I hear you have a hell of a fine gator river up there. In fact I saw a show on the Frazer a while back and they were catching them. Is there a slot limit up there too. It's 42-60 in. down here for sporties. I'm always looking for a new experience. We fished Port Hardy last year but were disapointed. The halibut bite was terrible; maybe we were late though. We spent the third week of july there and the group I went with usually goes a month earlier. We did catch some bruiser springs; however the halibut was what I wanted.
